Set in a grand Victorian mansion, YHA Langdale is a National Trust property with leafy grounds, cosy log fires and a restaurant. The Lake District hostel is situated between Elterwater and Grasmere.

The bright and airy rooms feature modern bunk beds, and some have a private bathroom. The YHA also features a TV lounge and games room, and the balcony terrace has scenic views of Windermere.

location, location, location. Now if you take the bus and walk from Grasmere, it’s a long uphill walk to the hostel. BUT once you arrive, you know it was worth it. The hostel / building is absolutely beautiful. The grounds were lush and green and I really enjoyed talking walks.

Ambleside village is a 10-minute walk from the YHA hostel. It has a selection of quaint tea rooms, artisan shops and country pubs.

The staff were caring and helpful in an agreeable and sincere manner. The location is magnificent, situated at the forefront of Lake Windermere. I had a beautiful view of the lake from my dorm room window. The Waterhead Bus Stop is just a 3-minute walk away. Despite not being located on the main high street in Ambleside, this distance adds to its tranquility."

The Beatrix Potter Gallery is located in nearby Hawkshead, and Lake Windermere is only a 10-minute drive from YHA Hawkshead. The lush greenery of Grizedale Forest is just outside the hostel, home to excellent mountain biking trails and a Go Ape! treetop adventure course.

Breakfast was great, plenty of choice. Pod was excellent and our trip was only let down by the lack of stuff we brought. Next time we will be better prepared and it'll be perfect

Great location and friendly staff, nice grounds to sit and enjoy a quiet drink. The hostel has a range of local ales at a reasonable price. even though there is no parking on site the staff allowed me to park my motorcycle. there is a National trust car park about a 100 yds from the hostel for car parking. The staff go that extra mile for there guest.
