Staff extremely friendly and offered me directions for my planned walking routes the next day. Big building with self catering facilities, plenty of loos and showers. Food (dinner and breakfast) was very nice and in line with other YHA hostels I’ve stayed at. Big spacious lounge with superb views. Good location for hiking.

Location was amazing. Rushing water right at the front door. Could sit and watch it all day. Lots of nice places to sit watching the water rush past while you enjoyed a coffee or wine. Rooms comfortable and shared bathrooms were new, close by and kept very clean. Kitchen was large and easy to navigate with other people staying there.

Located in the market town of Keswick in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Denton House Hostel is just a 5-minute stroll from Keswick Leisure Centre. With free WiFi and free parking, Keswick Museum and Art Gallery and Cumberland Pencil Museum are also less than a mile away.

The location was beautiful! It was across the street from the Greta River and right beside the old rail line that is now a walk/run/bike trail. It is a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of town and just over 10 minutes to Derwent Lake. My bed was in the annex with the main building with all the kitchen/dining area/common room in the neighbour building about 5 metres away. I loved everything!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

The YHA is in a great location in the beautiful Borrowdale valley. The hostel itself has a large bar and dining area and a nice outdoor seating space and camping area. The separate games room with pool and table tennis tables was a bonus.

Good value stay. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was slightly apprehensive about how the stay would be in Covid times but all was good and clean with safety measures in place. Great location for walking. My only negative point would be would be the lack of packed lunches, or just a simple sandwich would have been great. I know the hostel used to provide this service. Apart from that our stay was most enjoyable.
