The Black Sheep Hostel

Killarney

Located in Killarney and with St Mary's Cathedral reachable within 300 metres, The Black Sheep Hostel provides concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi throughout the property and a shared lounge. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The accommodation offers a tour desk, and luggage storage for guests. - great atmosphere in the hostel (feels like home full of friends, everyone is so kind and helpful to each other) - there is breakfast included in the price - rooms are very spacious with very comfortable beds, I love the "comfy" ladder that leads me to the upper bunk bed - very solid construction of bunk beds, I wasn't stressed that it would collapse when I went up to my bed (at other hostels it sometimes creates weird noises or the bed is crazily moving) - The hostel has a great living room area with a small library, a great dining room with a lot of comfortable seats around, a spacious kitchen - The people who work there are the coolest people ever, will always answer your questions and give you the best recommendations - that place is SO CLEAN!

Brú na Dromoda/Dromid Hostel

Killeenleagh Bridge

Located in the heart of the Iveragh Peninsular, the community-run Brú na Dromoda/Dromid Hostel offers free WiFi and free onsite parking. Guests have complimentary use of the onsite sports hall. Waterville is just 13 minutes' drive away.

Brú na Dromoda/Dromid Hostel offers both private rooms and dormitory rooms with mountain and river views. Extras include bedlinen and ironing facilities. Extremely quiet and comfortable. That is, if there are few people in the hostel. If people are talking downstairs or on the staircase, it gets a bit loud, but that doesn't last usually. I had the best sleep in Dromid hostel on St Patrick's Day. The idea was to escape the loudness of the city and it worked absolutely gorgeous. I had a private room (one of four from what I gather) which was right above the kitchen overlooking the river. The kitchen was very handy, very spacious with lots of appliances, dishes and nice wooden tables to eat. There's a pub and a store nearby where you can eat and get groceries, but I didn't, so can't tell anything about them. There are mountains and lakes around. I found a trail on an app that leads to Waterville. It took me about 40min walking to get to the beginning of the trail itself. There must be just regular paths people use that are closer and lead to lakes nearby but I didn't explore them.
