Our special piece of paradise is named 'Aquila' after Aquila audax fleayi, or common name - Tasmanian Wedge-tailed Eagle. For decades our family has enjoyed and appreciated the presence and magnificence of the Eagles soaring over our land. Now, we are opening up 'Aquila' to our guests in the hope that they too are lucky enough to spot a Wedgie at 'Aquila'! Each of our three eco-pods and glamping tent are brand-new and completely off-grid. We love to promote sustainable living wherever possible. We choose 'locally-made' wherever we can. We are delighted to be able to share these values with our guests as they experience off-grid, sustainable living in a beautiful farm and bushland environment surrounded by space and freedom. Around every corner, through every gate and within every pod our guests will see locally-made Tasmanian items, upcycled creativity and unique ideas.

Aquila Glamping is situated in the Coal River Valley, one of Tasmania's most prominent wine regions. Our twenty hectare property sits above the charming, historic township of Richmond and boasts expansive views over vineyards and across rolling hills to Hobart's spectacular kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Guests of Aquila Glamping can relax and rejuvenate without having to forsake the finer aspects of city living in one of three deluxe eco-pods, or our spacious glamping tent. Each eco-pod and tent is surrounded by space and privacy for guests to enjoy a unique rural escape, immersing themselves in the indulgence of seclusion at our farm and bushland setting with an abundance of natural Tasmanian beauty.

Aquila Glamping is situated in the Coal River Valley - one of Tasmania's premier wine regions. Our location boasts some of the best wineries in Tasmania. From award-winning restaurants, boutique cellar doors, cheese and chocolates expertly crafted in the Coal River Valley; to historical sites such as Australia's oldest bridge and the old Richmond Gaol, Aquila Glamping is the perfect base to explore this famous tourist region and surrounds. Aquila Glamping is an easy 20-minute drive from Tasmania's capital city, Hobart and a 15-minute drive from the Hobart International Airport. All that Hobart has to offer is easily accessible by vehicle from your eco-pod or glamping tent. Guests can visit Hobart's famous Salamanca Market; or step into a truly unique world of ancient and modern art at MONA; drive to the top of kunanyi/Mt Wellington for breathtaking views over Hobart, the Derwent River and beyond. Aquila Glamping is only a one hour drive from one of Tasmania's most popular tourist attractions, Port Arthur. A leisurely day drive, guests will have plenty of time to stop in at the incredible geographic formations such as the Tessellated Pavement, Devils Kitchen and Eaglehawk neck.
