The Cedar Wood Lodge was designed and built with the idea in mind that the travelling public should have a safe, clean, warm, and welcoming "Home Away From Home" environment to enjoy. As you enter the beautiful guest lobby, you are quickly immersed in the sounds of soft music, a soothing water fountain, beautiful artwork, antiques, and stunning woodwork crafted by local artisans. Unlike any other guest accommodation in British Columbia, the Cedar Wood Lodge and its owners Tom & Marla strive to provide the finest experience for the fairest price to guests from over 150 different countries during the past 19 years. The Cedar Wood Lodge is the only accommodation of any type in the entire Alberni Valley to have achieved and maintained the coveted 4-STAR Canada Select ranking. The Lodge is nestled into 2.25 acres of old growth Cedar, Maple, Chestnut and Douglas Fir trees, some nearly 300 years old. The lush "Heritage Gardens" surrounding the Lodge date back over 125 years and feature the largest Rhododendron plants on Vancouver Island, some of which are over 100 feet in circumference. The 8 finely appointed guest suites have been designed with the discriminating traveller in mind, each featuring 1 or 2 Deluxe Queen Beds with Goosedown duvets, a cozy natural gas fireplace, FREE high speed Internet access, HD cable color television, and air-conditioning. In addition, all 8 guestrooms provide a private en-suite bathroom with all amenities, a hot-air blow dryer, and an Ultra-Spa air jetted massage bathtub/shower combination.
Tom and Marla have happily owned and operated the Cedar Wood Lodge since May 1, 2004. They are natives of California and Minnesota, but married and raised their 6 children in the mountain regions of Northern Utah. Upon finding themselves empty nesters, they decided to pursue a long-held dream to own and operate their own Bed & Breakfast property. Following a long search for the right fit, they discovered this beautiful "GEM" in Port Alberni, British Columbia. 19 years later. they are able to look back and enjoy the fulfillment of their dreams and the tremendous success of their hard work and dedication to welcoming the world into their unique "one-of-a-kind home", located in arguably one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth.
The Alberni Valley is the ideal destination for those who love nature and are searching for a place to refresh, renew, and revive. Surrounded by crystal blue waters, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, trails, mountains, and forests, and abundant with wildlife such as Bald Eagles, black bears, 5 different salmon species, white-tail deer and Roosevelt Elk, Port Alberni is the ideal setting for a home base to explore all that mother nature has to offer. If you enjoy fishing, the Alberni Valley is home to the best Salmon fishing in all of Canada, with millions of Salmon entering the local waters every year.
