Everythink in Günzburg was excellent.
Everythink in Günzburg was excellent. Easy to get there by train. Cosy center with lovely coffee an ice shops and resturants. We stayed in the hotel Goldene Traube three nights. We had a regular breakfast at the Reissler bakery (caffee, brezel, cakes..). We enjoyed pizzas and minestrone soups in Guntia pizzeria- very friendly to kids. Soups, kaesepaetzle, Maximillian's gulash, salats, kinderschnizel and apple fritters in brasserie Maximillan's at Marktplatz would recommend. Ice cream in Eiscafe numero Uno was dream for kids. And Legoland was above expectations: great fun for kids, but also for adults! Legoland was also easy accesable by a shuttle bus from train station.

We went there just for Legoland.
We went there just for Legoland. However we did try one Vietnamese restaurant (Schnell Restaurant Pham) and we like it so much we stuck with it! The three days we were there we ate only at Mrs Pham's!
Getting around the town on foot is easy.
Next time I would avoid renting an ev. This process of finding a way to pay for the charging of your electirc car is a nightmare for those not familiar with how this thing works in Germany and even worst for people like me that do not speak German.

Günzburg, a small town on the Danube has a delightful old central area with a thousand years of history. I knew absolutely nothing about it before, but spent three days on my own to kill time before travelling from a meeting here in the restored Castle - Schloss Reisensburg, on a hill overlooking the Danube, to another meeting in Italy. The Hotel Hirsch was a lucky choice, being right in the centre of the old town, where many of the buildings and views have been carefully restored with respect for their renaissance or baroque history. You can take a guided tour to visit the spectacularl rococo cathedral, and learn why it appears to be joined at the hip to a secondary school. It's a beautiful example of Zimmerman's architecture, with an interesting backstory. Look at the houses on the line of the old city walls, whose upper floors project successively further over the street below, and discover why one of the surviving towers on the city wall is called the Kuhturm (cow tower). For lots more information and relics of its period under the Romans and when it was in Austria under the Habsburgs, as well as more recent times, I can recommend the Heimatmuseum, but it's only open on Sunday afternoons. For dinner I got lucky in two of my three choices. Almost opposite the hotel is an excellent Greek restaurant called Platia, and a couple of blocks away an amazing Italian restaurant called Backstube at Ηοfgasse 21. I wouldn't bother with a couple of others which appeared on the web to be good.

Typical german town with a small old town.
Typical german town with a small old town. Nice old houses around Marktplatz.
It was hard to find a decent coffee/breakfast location. Lots of empty locations, probebly due to Covid.
If you want to visit Legoland, Günzburg is a very good place to stay. Its only about 9 Minutes by car away.

the hotel was in a very pleasant street with coffee shops and bars etc with local interests within easy reach, a very pleasant stay all round.
we ate our evening meal in the hotel and were very happy with the quality of the meal.
We stayed in Legoland resort for two nights, and one night in this hotel. Because Legoland resort was too expensive! Surprisingly we remained even more satisfied with this hotel! The location is 5 minute drive from Legoland. The family room is big, clean and comfortable. The staff speaks better English than the staff in Legoland resort. The breakfast is delicate and delicious! They even offer decaffeinate coffee. We will definitely consider this hotel the next time that we come back to Legoland.
We rent the apartment as it was very close to Legoland, less than 10 mins drive, very easy to get to Gunzburg for groceries and other shops, the host was very responsive, direct precise description and explanation about everything, the apartment was super clean, very well equipped and the beds were very very comfortable, worth every penny.
Great location. Easily walkable to the downtown area and less than a 15 minute drive to Legoland. Plenty of beds for our family. The house was equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Self check-in was very nice and easy to do.
This hotel is wonderful and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We would have loved to stay longer. A great hotel for families going to Legoland. We are cycling the Danube and the hotel had a great place to store our bicycles.
Friendly staff and very family-oriented hotel. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast. Ideally situated, close to the highway and walking distance to the historical center of Günzburg. Recommended!
The kids were excited to find the children room with some toys and a play tent. The apartment is spacious and the towels and carpets are soft. Generally saying it’s a great place to stay when you arrive with kids to Legoland.
Near by main train station, legoland bus is starting from here.10 min walk to Hotel.
Big & clean rooms with great view
Delicious bakery is located near by the hotel for breakfast.
