The owner was lovely and friendly and very apologetic about the noise from the wedding below our bedroom. The room was large, comfortable and had a balcony. Parking was free. Breakfast was excellent. The owner allowed us to check out late because we were unable to get to sleep because of the music downstairs.
Suspect this is a winter destination mostly. In summer it is very quiet with few options for evening dining. Very accessible location by car, with rail connections to Munich and Salzburg. Beautiful location at the base of the mountains. Everything you need for an easy stay is in the town- laundry, supermarket, petrol station etc. Easy access by Carr to towns around the big lake. Lots of cycling and hiking going on, and easy to hire electric bikes and boats. Just 11km from Austrian border with cheaper petrol and even better scenery.
A great base for a touring holiday round and about. We would go back without hesitation.

Love this small town.
Love this small town. The KurKarte that is necessary when you are staying here was well used as it covered our travel back and forth to Prien on a local train. There are so many walks. We did some but 10 days of rain made it a little challenging. However on sunny days we went to Hohenaschau Schloss, up the Kampenwand cable car (although we couldn't go anywhere at the top as there was too much snow, apart from SonnenAlm Restaurant and Gasthaus which was outstanding. Try the breakfast. We also went to Prien many times and out on the lake to HerrenChiemsee to see Ludwig II's palace. Loved the local bakeries - Mullers in Aschau and Miedl in Prien, very handy to the station. The walks we didn't do will have to wait until next visit. We loved it. And top marks to the Haus des Gastes. Comfortable place to sit on wet days, a library to borrow books from and return, jigsaws, warm, and clean toilets - always a plus. Well done Aschau im Chiemgau for providing such a great place. We used it often because of the rain. Just gave us somewhere else to go rather than sitting in our apartment. Also very wood Wifi there.
Just seen the 'Tips for a Great Review' and question 'What are some fun activities for young couples like you?' Ha ha. We are both 71 but fit and mobile. Next time would like to hire a bike or an E bike. And a lot of the walkways are brilliant for those with wheelchairs or prams.

The location is perfect, right next to the Kampenwand bahn and hiking trails. Also wlaking distance to restaurants. There is parking in front of the building, which is also a hotel. The apartment is inside a hotel building but does not belong to the hotel. The apartment is like a large hotel room with kitchenette and balcony that looks over the parking lot and a little piece of mountain piercing through trees. It is very peaceful and quiet. The place is well equipped for a couple.
This hotel is, in my opinion, a great value for the location. The large terrace area is also a huge plus point for this hotel! The room was larger than most & was clean. Netflix is available, so I was able to watch shows in english.
the location was close to my work place which was about 30 minutes away. it’s a very nice hotel with friendly staff, I could speak German but they were very willing to switch to English. Great location, 3 mins near Edeka
The room was spacious light and airy and had a lovely shower. There also was a lift which was great because my husband has arthritic hips and stairs are difficult. We stayed in the guesthouse not in the main hotel
