Fabulous hotel, great for kids and families. Absolutely beautiful meal at the restaurant with staff that went that extra mile both at reception and in the restaurant. Pool for kids was very good and larger pool and spa also great. Loved that there was an adults only pool and part of the sauna/spa that way as a family, we could use the facilities and not feel like we were detracting from singles or couples experience as they could use the adult facilities.
Set amid the wonderful Alpine landscapes of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, this traditional 4-star hotel offers elegant rooms and excellent spa facilities.

The Peak of German Skiing
At the foot of Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is one of the country’s top ski resorts. The Bavarian style of its Alpine chalets includes beautiful flowers lining every balcony, and colourful frescoes adorning the outsides of houses.
The varied skiing and snowboarding in the surrounding Alps is based mainly on blue and red runs. To ski on the Zugspitze glacier you take a train up to the mountain then a cable car down to the slopes. The summit itself offers magnificent views of the valleys below, provided you’re lucky enough to get a break in the clouds.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a former host of the Winter Olympics and the World Alpine Ski Championships. It also has a ski jump that forms part of the world cup of that sport. In summer hiking is the most popular activity and a lengthy route leads up to King’s House on Schachen, a supposed castle that looks more like a house.
It was built for Ludwig II, the eccentric king behind the region’s most impressive castle – Neuschwanstein to the north-west of Garmisch. The road between them passes by Oberammergau, famous for its 10-yearly Passion Plays.

We spent a week in GAP at the end of the winter season.
We spent a week in GAP at the end of the winter season. The weather was warm, but skiing opportunities were just perfect at the Zugspitze which is over 2500m high. From GAP, the train takes you to Munich in an hour, so you can enjoy a big city atmosphere and related activities once you get bored from skiing. By car, you need an hour to reach the most visited tourist attraction in Germany - Neuschwanstein castle. Overall GAP is a cool location for both summer and winter time.

What a lovely area, I want to move here. Such beautiful scenery, mountains for great hikes and lovely people.
It’s also an ok place for skiing, the slopes aren’t super long or the resorts not very fancy but it could be a great place to learn the sport.

Really fantastic place - Partnachklamm is an absolute must!
Really fantastic place - Partnachklamm is an absolute must! Really beautiful walk, so impressive, reasonably priced and not too packed. Bring a small torch or have your phone to hand though for the dark sections!
We ate at Gasthof Herdenfelfer-hof - it was great - lovely atmosphere, good service and great food and beer!
Easy access to Zugspitse too - cable car ride is expensive but overall I’d say worth it for the pretty special views up there! We ran out of time a bit, but make sure you allow a bit of extra time to take the little cable car down to the glacier where there looked to be some great opportunities for tobaganning for the kids!
Oh - and we found many public toilets needed 50c, so maybe have a few coins at the ready, especially if travelling with young children!
Would loved to have stayed here longer and explored the surrounding areas, and Austria, more.

In a small area like Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GAP) this place is in the middle of it all. It is on the Partenkirchen side which has many attractions and restaurants close by. They have on site parking which is a huge plus. The rooms are functional and clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast in the morning is always good. More than the normal German breakfast they also provide scrambled eggs which is a favorite of mine. The staff is very good and speak both German and English. It is a great place and is reasonably priced.
Michael, the host was excellent. He was kind, caring and very helpful on what to do and where to go. The room size was excellent with 3 different beds and wood gave and excellent touch to it. The room was decorated beautifully with the fire set up really nicely by Michael. This was in a perfect location in the center of Garmisch and there were many eating and tourist places nearby. Zugspitze and the Partnach Gorge were very close by and very beautiful. All around it was the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
It was our third time in this hotel, we absolutely love it. With a toddler it is very convenient to have all facilities in one place - lake next to the hotel for walks, restaurant(s) with good food/ many choices/ kids friendy, pool, spa, playroom for kids with toys and books, etc. Staff was always nice, rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is a bit isolated, but with a car that is not a problem, 10min drive away from the city center. Overall we will definitely come back.
Great location in the midst of Garmisch-Partenkirchen old town. An underground parking lot is around the corner from the Gasthof.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast was great. Despite Corona regulations, a lot of options and variates were available.
The restaurant at the facility is a fantastic location for an authentic German cuisine dinner experience. The setting was simple and charming and the food portions were generous.
Pets are welcome!
Sweet little traditional alp apartment. Small kitchen with eating space and everything you need for cooking. Nice balcony with chairs and a table. The apartment is close to the train station. The host was amazing. We had close contact with her during our stay and she even gave me a birthday present as we were celebrating there. All in all we couldn’t have wished for a better place for our vacation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and we will definitely come back.
We stayed here along our 3 nights Bavarian holiday with my wife. Very nice hotel with an excellent Mountain view from room windows. Additionally, very close to the restaurants as max 10 minutes by walk. The environment is also very silent. The breakfast and service was also satisfying. Hotel owners are very kind and friendly. Our room was large enough and well equipped. During our stay we did not encounter any trouble.
My second time staying at the hotel and I must say it was even a more memorable experience!
The team of Rita and Andreas provide such a great guest experience plus the location is on the way to the Zugspitze which is place that everyone will go to. The walk into town is refreshing and energizing! A beautiful breakfast in the mornings with ample selections make for a great start to the day!
Lovely design and atmosphere of the hotel matching the look and atmosphere of the beautiful town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Amazing view from the balcony of our room. Easy travels by car to nearby towns and castles. We enjoyed our breakfasts in a bakery across the street and had some lovely meals in restaurants in the town.
Very pleased with our stay at Atlas Grand Hotel.
The breakfast at the hotel was really good (Covid regulations were followed). The view from the terrace is amazing - the Zugspitze is visible on a clear day. The garden is another plus - a beautiful place to relax after an active day. The hotel is a short walk away from the town centre and has secure parking facilities. The room was small but comfortable.
This modern hostel has all the amenities of most hotels. An excellent fully stocked breakfast, sauna and fitness room. It comes complete with a view of the mountains and spacious family rooms. Its close to the train station, but you can't hear the trains in the rooms or in their outside dining patio.
Comfortable, well equipped single room with a sofa. Very friendly and helpful owners - and, possibly, the best breakfast I've ever had in any hotel! Garmisch is pretty spread out and hotel was in a very quiet street but still only a 10 minute walk to the Zugspitze railway station.
We loved this hotel and would definitely stay again. In particular, the sauna, pool, room, decor, balcony and BREAKFAST were incredible. The staff was incredibly kind and the location was walkable for us. I would love to stay here again in the warmer months!
We were very pleasantly surprised at the location and beauty of this hotel. We loved every minute of our stay here. It was also super convenient to have 2 restaurants and the free breakfast buffet was the best we’ve ever had in our travels.
The room was very clean. If you want a simple cleam and safe place to sleep, this place doesn't disappoint. If you are looking for a hotel with amenities, you should look further.
Very good staff. Explained everything. Cozy warm room with facilities such as TV, wardrobe, table. Hotel on quiet small street close to bus stop and city center. Easy to find
