First time I've stayed in a hotel in relatively rural Germany - what a fantastic experience! Incredibly peaceful area, yet linked up to the train network, travelling on an interrail pass allowed me to find this gem. Basic, but clean, quiet and with very nice staff.

The family-run Hotel Waldblick is located in the Aufen district of Donaueschingen, just 3 km from the town centre. It offers a traditional restaurant and a sauna. All of the country-style rooms at Hotel Waldblick have a private bathroom, cable TV channels and free internet. Most rooms were renovated in 2013, and some are suitable for allergy sufferers. A breakfast buffet is served each morning at the Waldblick. In the evenings, the hotel restaurant offers food from the Black Forest and Baden regions. A sports archery range is situated just 600 metres from the hotel. Many spa services are available for an additional fee. The hotel also has a large garden.
