Welcome to our beautiful Spanish-style hacienda, located on the western outskirts, just outside the small town of Cotacachi. Our home is known not only for its architecture but for its interior and breathtaking scenery as well. It sits in between two beautiful volcanoes: Volcán Cotacachi (behind San Miguel) and Volcán Imbabura (in front)! La Quinta San Miguel is close enough to the city centre that you can walk into town, but just far enough so that you have the privacy you want. The house itself is three floors tall and allows for your own space no matter what room you're in. Though remodelled, San Miguel still obtains its original skeleton (over 100 years old) with a modern touch! Guests can access the entire house and property unless specified otherwise in their reservation. Keep in mind that there is a security deposit required for reservations longer than a month. We will always make sure the rooms are clean and ready according to the number of guests staying. Up to twelve guests can stay at a time, however, smaller groups are always welcome! There is an extra charge for any guest after the first twelve. We do have an extra mattress available. There are caretakers living on the property who take care of the house & the guests' needs. They DO NOT live in the house, they live in a smaller unit adjacent to the house. They are a respectful and responsible family who have the keys to the house but will never intrude. La Quinta San Miguel is located in a calm neighborhood near the Mercado de Cotacachi. You will see a small creek in front of the house where a river used to be, and there are the occasional cows that rest and feed in the grassy area across the road. There are homes all around, old and new, and overall the neighborhood is quiet. There is a local carwash off the main road leaving Cotacachi to Quiroga, as well as a small convenience store. The city of Cotacachi is located 8 km (5 miles) northwest of the artisan city of Otavalo, about 4.8 km (3 miles) west of the Panamerican Highway (Route 35). It lies in the valley between the volcanos of Imbabura and Cotacachi. There are two main entrances to the city, both stemming exit off the Panamerican Highway. The first entrance feeds directly into the city's main square, while the other turns into the famed Calle 10 de Agosto (locally known as Leather Street). La Quinta San Miguel is no more than a 10-minute walk to the Mercado de Cotacachi, which is right next to the Cotacachi Bus Terminal. Leaving the house, turn left, then make a right and follow the road into town. From there you can take a bus to other destinations including Otavalo, Ibarra, Quito, etc. If you want to get into town you can always walk or take a taxi from the house.
