STAY IN A TYPICAL CANARIAN RURAL HOUSE. A refuge for peace, isolated from the crowds, but close to many points of interest A restored rural house with all the contemporary conveniences. Our typical 2 Bedrooms rural house is located in the centre of the island, without any opposite other than a pine forest, at 1139 meters above sea level in a unique natural setting of majestic mountains, endless pine forests and of starry nights. It is the ideal place to enjoy tranquillity and the best antidote to stress. You are 1h20 from the airport of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (46 kms). From our small village you can enjoy many trails and 100 meters from your house begins the first hiking trail. You are right in the area of the “Cumbres” (Summits) of Gran Canaria. This area is part of the Gran Canaria Biosphere Reserve. The natural environment of this region is characterized by its immense forests of Canarian pines which share the territory with a huge colony of almond trees.
TEJEDA: The geographical location of our village, right in the centre of our island, is the ideal place if you want to visit Gran Canaria. Our house is located just 20 minutes away from the village of Tejeda. Tejeda is part of a larger area which has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site and is noted as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. You will find a small supermarket, a pharmacy, restaurants, bars, an ice cream parlour and shops and even a municipal swimming pool in Tejeda. When visiting the municipality, do not overlook either the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, a temple dating from the year 1921, situated in the village. Tejeda is one of the towns with the greatest tradition in the Canary Islands, so you will see and feel the essence of the Canarian people there. ARTENARA: Also take the opportunity to visit the small village of Artenara located just 35 minutes away. An ideal place to appreciate the archaeological sites where we discover the way of life of the Canarian aborigines. Artenara is Gran Canaria’s highest village and sits on a giant natural balcony surrounded by the rugged ridges and valleys of Gran Canaria’s Biosphere Reserve. The surrounding terrain was described by the Spanish writer Unamuno as a “petrified storm”. The local cave houses, inhabited until recently but now converted into rural museum give you the chance to learn about the old way of life. You can even travel further back in time at the archaeological site in Acusa. CRUZ DE TEJEDA: Cruz de Tejeda is the geographical centre of our island. Located at 1580 meters above sea level, where on clear days we can enjoy a magnificent view of mount Teide on Tenerife. PICO DE LAS NIEVES: If you want to get higher, we suggest you go to the top of the island at the “Pico de las Nieves” viewpoint, Gran Canaria’s highest point, just 30 minutes from our house. From the amazing viewpoint, 1949 metres above sea level, we will see deep ravines and endless ridges.
