The nature surrounding the lodge, a wonderful and warm atmosphere was inside. Very good and various breakfast!! The sauna was amazing and you can start ski and walk trail almost from the door!!

Majoitus Kuukkeli has been housing tourist traveling in Saariselkä for over 20 years. Our properties are found in the center of Saariselkä and in Laanila, but we have destinations also in other Northern Lapland villages like Inari, Ivalo and near Ivalo Airport, Vuotso and Sodankylä. Kuukkeli is a brand with a vision aiming to fulfill guests hopes and necessities while visiting us. For that reason we provide a wide selection of services to make it easy holiday for everyone. Under the Saariselän Kuukkeli Ltd, are e.g. Shopping Center Kuukkeli, where is Saariselkä's only grocery store K-Market Kuukkeli. The shopping center is on three floors, and on the top 2 floors are the Cafe-Eatery Kuukkeli and the K-Market Kuukkeli´s department for souvenirs, gift items, clothes and lot´s of more. K-Market Kuukkeli's department for groceries and other daily products is on the middle, 1st floor. On the same floor, there is also the Majoitus Kuukkeli office and reception, as well as Postal services and Matkahuolto parcels pick-up point. On the lowest ground floor is Kuukkeli Bicycle and Equipment Rental-Booking Office. The ground floor also has Saariselkä's Alko (Finnish spirits store), Posti's parcel machine, and a bottle recycling machine, which return receipts can be redeemed at K-Market Kuukkeli's cashier. Taxi Kuukkeli picks up and takes you both near and far, and drives airport transportation with an advance booking.

Kuukkeli Log Houses Porakka Inn has rooms for 2- 4 people. Like in any quality hostels around the worId, also in Porakka´s bathrooms and toilets, each for women and men, are shared with other guests. Rooms have total 4 beds, which of two are wall-turned beds, a refrigerator, a table, a wardrobe, wall shelves and a TV. There is an open kitchen - dining area and a small lounge with TV on shared areas. In a separate courtyard building are 2 saunas with changing rooms and bathrooms. Saunas can be heated and used continuously. The common areas are well equipped with considering the needs of travelers. The open kitchen has a dishwasher, coffee maker and electric kettle, refrigerator, toaster, microwave, stove and oven. The living room has a flat-screen TV and a CD player. There is laundrette and drying cabinet as well as a warm ski maintenance room. Complimentary Wi-Fi for guests Smoking is forbidden. Pets cannot stay in Porakka. Free public parking is possible on site, reservation is not required. Kuukkeli Log Houses Porakka Inn offers good quality hostel-style accommodation in a big log house. Situated right in the middle of nature and still close to the services of the area. Porakka's guest facilities are located in three different buildings: an accommodation building, a sauna building and a heated storage building with a ski maintenance room. The main building of the site is for private use. There is an outdoor corridor between the main building and the accommodation house, which has a terrace and in the summer time an electric grill for guests use. There is plenty of room for children to play in the middle of the large yard area.

Neighbourhood information

Saariselkä is located 250 km north of the Arctic Circle and it is one of oldest tourist centers in Finland. Since 1970´s throught the years it has also grown for little fell village. In Saariselkä there is plenty to do, see and experience at all seasons, all year round. The snowy winter season is from November to early May. The sun sets in the darkness of November's Polar Night, but when the sun rises in spring, you can enjoy Nightless Night most of the summer. Porakka is located close of center Saariselkä, in a quiet location and close to the area's services. The Shopping Center Kuukkeli is located in the Siula building, approx. 1300 meters away. and is open every day from 9 am to 9 pm. There you can get almost everything you need on your vacation, just under one roof. Like at the Bike and Equipment Rental Office Kuukkeli, you can find both e-fatbikes and mountain bikes, sleds, snowslide skis, and you get good service with route information. UK-National Park's outdoor hiking trails start next to almost all Kuukkeli´s accommodation sites. In winter, Saariselkä's well-maintained network of ski tracks are almost in total 250 km. Saariselkä Ski & Sport Resort's 20 slalom ski slopes and 6 lifts offer variety for moving around on skis, and it's always worth trying Finland's longest sledding hill which is approx. 1200 m long. The fell scenery is breathtakingly charming in all seasons, and while moving in the ground, you can also listen to ... the silence of true Lapland's nature. It is very easy reach Saariselkä - the nearest, Ivalo Airport is only 20 minutes by car there is good flight connections via Helsinki to everywhere. Saariselkä offers something for everyone, so welcome - come to Tunturi!
