Our host Rachel was delightful and very attentive, and made sure all our needs were met during our stay. She prepared an amazing breakfast each morning with an immaculate presentation and created a wonderful atmosphere by the fireplace. We highly recommend a stay at the Castelnau and a visit to Colmar. Everything was perfect! Rachel is the most wonderful host you could ever wish for, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was amazing, one of the best we’ve ever had. Everything was fresh, either made by her or locally sourced. Beautiful fruit, scrambled egg, bread, cheese, meats, cake & her superb home made jams. She gave us restaurant recommendations and sightseeing tips. She is the most cheerful, kind person and we were very sad to leave.

Absolutely charming and beautifully presented accommodation in a great location (a grand old house in a quite residential area) for visiting Colmar. Rachel was wonderfully attentive - always keen to assist with finding restaurants and ensuring that we had exactly what we wanted for breakfast (with homemade bread, jams etc). Nothing was too much trouble.

The owner was wonderful, very friendly, and did all she could to make our stay in Colmar enjoyable. We especially enjoyed our breakfasts on the terrace at the front, which included homemade items, and thought had been put into changing things up a little each day. The bedroom was large, and decorated in a way that suited the age of the property. The owner was available to give advice on outings and restaurants.

Rachel was a delightful host, charming and helpful, and she prepared the most delicious breakfasts each day which we had on a delightful terrace; everything was either home made or locally sourced and beautifully presented. The location was excellent, a quiet residential street close to a park, and yet within easy walking distance of the station and the old town. Not a place to stay if you are a minimalist. The owner is an artist and a collector of beautiful things so it is a little like sleeping in a rather special antique shop.
