We had a very calm and relaxing holiday at La Fortinerie! The hosts Tina and Julian gave us a warm welcome and they were around whenever we would need anything during our stay. The tent is very spacious and well equipped. It was so nice sit on the deck and watch the beautiful surroundings. The Hot Tub was a nice bonus, it is clean and works like a charm. The camping is very nice, you can see Tina and Julian have paid lot of attention to detail in every area. The bed in the tent was a bit hard to our liking but that is a matter of preference. We can recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a nice, small camping with more than good facilities in a nice and calm area.

La Fortinerie is a 'Longere' (traditional French farmhouse) over 300 years old, it is a small farm typical of the region, with 4 acres of wooded land and open grounds. It is nestled in the 'Foret de Monnaie', surrounded by trees; a place where you can really get a breath of fresh air, you will also find a variety of flora and fauna around the edges of the ponds and streams which run through it. Glamping or 'glamorous camping' takes in all the pleasures and freedom of the great outdoors with a touch of comfort. Our safari tent offers just that. With a double bedroom, full ensuite and kitchenette and living space, the tent has everything you whilst on holiday. The add some extra glamour to this glamping tent there is also a private heated spa hot tub on the tent decking with an outdoor seating area and private BBQ. WiFi is available throughout.
We have lived in France for a few years now and love the French way of life, the slower pace, fresh air and clean living. After spending most of that time working for others, we decided to put our efforts into our own project and here we are, the new owners of camping La Fortinerie, looking forward to opening fully in June 2018.
We are nestled in Foret de Monnaie in the Loire Valley. The picturesque town of Saumur is a 30 minute drive and the beautiful villages of Mouliherne and Vernantes are within about 5-10 minutes drive. There are lots of activities in the local area, most centred around the great outdoors, such as walks, cycle routes, dog-sledding, acro-branching (treetop adventure/ziplining). There's also rich culture and heritage such as troglodyte caves, chateaux, the Cadre Noir, wineries and mushroom farms.
