This magnificent monastery was built in the XVIIth century and fully renovated in 2019/20. It is situated in a lovely artist village, right by the river Seine and in front of the church Notre Dame de l’Assomption (XIIth century, classified historic monument). The house has been decorated with attention and its equipment is comfortable. All bedrooms are spacious, equipped with a desk and offer a great view on the Seine. On the other side, the vast and flowered garden gives space for outdoor relaxation. The estate gives a direct access to the river, which is the Seine on its way to Paris. The water is perfectly clean. Marnays inhabitants bathe in the summer and a little “beach” is located 50 meters from the house. We provide diverse vehicles to enjoy this idyll: bicycles, stand up paddle, kayak etc. The property consists of two houses, each equipped with a private terrace. The spacious garden is shared by the tenants of these two houses. It is to be noted that the private terraces are not facing each other, they are in full intimacy. The garden offers diverse relaxing areas.
We are a Parisian family and chose the charming village Marnay-sur-Seine as a secondary home for vacation times and many weekends. According to your travel dates you may be welcomed either by ourselves or alternatively by one of our neighbors. Any way, you can be sure to be taken care of by a welcoming, attentive and reactive person, listening to your needs.
Marnay-sur-Seine showcases green spaces and abundant nature. This French village offers moments of relaxation and leisure for those who seek for authenticity and nature. The café L’Expressoir, is located in front of the house. Here one can enjoy a warm and heart ambience, around an afternoon coffee or ice-cream, as well as the famous French apéritif time before dinner. The cafés cultural program is rich, especially with the summer concerts. Marnay also hosts a wonderful botanical garden, one of the 22 French gardens having obtained the label « Jardin Botanique de France et des Pays Francophones ». It is a truly peaceful place. Marnay-sur-Seine is a very atypical French village, also because it hosts international artist residencies over the past 20 years. Diverse artistic vernissages and expositions are held frequently in the village public places. Camille Claudel museum is located in Nogent-sur-Seine, 7km from Marnay. Pottery classes are available in the neighboring villages (less than 2km). Provins, medieval city and UNESCO world heritage, is a 25mn car ride. Troyes, cité of stained glass, is a 45 mn car ride away.
