The Corner House Hotel, hotel in Taunton

The Corner House Hotel, in the heart of Taunton, is a modernised hotel that has kept its Victorian features. It has free Wi-Fi, a bar, a restaurant and onsite parking.

Our car broke down on the way to the hotel, so we had to stay longer than planned while arranging a repair. The staff were extremely helpful and flexible with us in what turned out to be a very stressful time. Very happy.

Farthings Country House Hotel & Restaurant Tunton, hotel in Taunton

This elegant 18th-century country house is situated amid the quiet of the Somerset countryside, yet within reach of the M5, just 8 km from Taunton and Ilminster.

From the friendly staff on arrival to the outstanding food, everything from this stay exceeded my expectations. The building is incredibly charming and then when you go into the rear garden you’re welcomed by a flock of feathered friends. The restaurant served me one of the nicest meals I have had in a long time, partnered with a local beer too.

Easily accessed with good parking off road. Very clean room, even though rather quirky in terms of out of room facilities, not en-suite. An excellent Thai restaurant within the pub building, with great menu and well laid out seating. Excellent staff team too.

The environs were better than the centre although the churches and Museum are worth a visit. Traffic heavy in places and most streets not pedestrianised. I would recommend 'Augustus' for a special meal (Michelin starred). Most other restaurants very unspectacular. Brasserie meal in the 'Castle Hotel' disappointing. My favourite places are the Quantocks, The West Somerset Railway and Hestercombe Gardens.

Taxi overcharged me on the motorway route after being told it was £25 I got charged £34. He would only take one route that I thought was cheaper. I tried calling him the next day due to no public bus services available. No response. Claimed he arrived fromRomania in 2003. An English person from Taunton Taxis helped me out the next day with an awesomely cheaper rate, and showed me how to get to the basic bus route. Brilliant service from Taunton Taxis. Would highly recommend them but you have to phone as they are not allowed to sit in aTaxi rank apparently, where the expensive guy was....?? Some people here do not know where things are. Bus services do not run on Sundays if you are a traveller, tourist, worker etc. Prior experience here I was left to sleep in the street, no offer to provide a place to sleep, had a food poisoned experience by local street van vendor, not seen here on revisit where public toilets were intentionally closed and Male urinals open. I am a woman! Bag of personal belongings stolen from the local library, taken into custody via police where items were returned after it being opened. This was bag with clothes, research books and personal property linking to identity and legal documents were accessed. That was with CCTV.

My daughter and I stayed for 5 weeks. Definitely a Lovely Somerset Getaway, well equipped comfortable cottage. Very quiet and relaxing. We so enjoyed the area and locals. Quite different from Canada. Excellent Hosts were so responsive to any needs and concerns. We were so sad to leave. Will definitely book again when in the area. Many thanks again Elsbeth and Jason for the lovely stay!!

We came for the County Classics Car Museum which has recently opened. Lots of shiny cars and motorbikes, friendly staff. We also went for a couple of walks close by - one at Ilminster and one at Castle Naroche. We stayed at the Corner Hotel. The meal in their restaurnat (pre-book) was excellent.

Taunton is a nice unusual town with lots of different shops.

Taunton is a nice unusual town with lots of different shops. It is near to the River Tonne and has a museum( although I didn't get a chance to visit on this occasion) It is very close to the cricket ground and has 2 beautiful churches. Nearby there is a nice park called Vivary Park. There are two Park and Rides called Silk Mills and Gateway and the bus runs between the two. It only costs £2 return and you park in the Park and Ride car park for free. The cattle market is no longer held in the town, though.

In a good location not far from the town centre. On quite a busy road but on a Saturday night we didn’t really notice the traffic. Neither did the church next door have bells ringing after about 6pm. The bar was a nice touch if a bit limited in stock but that was understandable for the size of the hotel. We had a superior double which was a good size with a very efficient radiator so the room was quite warm. Unusually it had quite a lot of lights in the room too which makes a change for hotels, and a large tv.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed and although we were hours early the room was ready within 20 minutes. The hotel is situated very close to the town centre so there is no need for a car once you are there. Across the road is a Sainsburys with a petrol station. The breakfast room was pleasant and tea was quick to arrive once we had ordered. We asked for additional pillows and milk and both arrived promptly and were better than expected.

The owner was very nice and chatty and very knowledgeable about the area. It is very close to Taunton itself. It was very quiet outside and we slept very well. Breakfast was delicious and well received. Nothing was too much trouble. Room and Hotel had an oldy worldly feel but we really liked that and our en-suite was very modern and had a good pump for the shower. We will certainly stay again if in that area.

Nice gardens, excellent food, friendly staff, poor bed, good bathroom. The hotel seemed a little pricier than justified in terms of room quality. I also booked because the hotel states that it has an EV charger. It does but it's worse than useless charging at a mere 6kw and inaccessible due to bad parking so I spent most of my stay in Taunton searching for a fast charger rather than at the hotel itself.

Booked it late as we was staying elsewhere didn't like it The lady on reception was lovely and very helpful It's a basic hotel no bar or restaurant but it was near to my son that lives in taunton so for me location was what I wanted couldn't fault it as it was next to services you can get food in there. And sit at the tables they have there so that was also good

We had a lovely overnight stay at the property just outside Taunton. The owners are considerate in all aspects. From plates and cutlery to allow you to eat a takeaway in your room to milk in the fridge for tea and coffee. The breakfast was superb - I had a light one as I had overindulged for the rest of the holiday but what I had was fresh and excelent.

The overall appearance of the Hotel (both inside and out) was very good. My Room was bigger than most for a similar price. The Bed was comfortable and the Shower and Cubicle were also good, except for the shower head slipping down the vertical pole, meaning I had to duck down to wash my hair ! There is Free Car Parking at the front of the Hotel.

Really lovely property with beautifully decorated rooms and a stunning luxury bathroom. Ideal placement for Taunton town centre and for the hospital (staying for work). Paul and Sharon were wonderful hosts and so so accommodating, showing true care looking after me between gruelling night shifts. Thank you so much both, see you again soon.

The room and bathroom we're exceptionally large for a Europran hotel.. The windows were large, they opened easily and my room faced a pleasant garden.the room had a nice selection of tea and coffee. Fresh milk and water were provided. The sandwich I ordered from the deli was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The staff, the location (when I found it, Taunton not easy to navigate by car). The hotel was lovely with a lot if variation in terms of seating space. So you could choose a busy and buzzy bar. Or you could relax in The Drawing Room which was quiet and relaxing
