James and Catherine love to welcome guests to their beautiful corner of North Somerset. James is a keen cyclist and always ready to advise on routes from 20-200km, taking in the best views and the best coffee and cake stops!
The historic village of Norton St Philip nestles on the borders of the area of outstanding natural beauty. The village has The George Inn, one of the oldest pubs in the country and also a handy village shop, both a less than 10 min stroll through the pretty churchyard and across the ancient grassy mead. Bath with its huge range of shops and cultural attractions is 15 mins drive or bus journey away. Longleat Safari Park, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, Laycock and Bristol are easy day trips. There really is something for everyone nearby - arts, museums, gardens, walks (including The Bath Skyline), heritage. Frome and Bradford on Avon are both nearby and worth visiting. For walkers there is The Bath Skyline, Bradford on Avon along the canal to Avoncliff for lunch at the Cross Keys where canal, river, road and rail meet and cross each other. Walk from Ida's Nook to Wellow for another great pub lunch. Cyclists are in heaven here (well those that like hills anyway). Cycle to Bath through the two tunnels that start nearby at Midford. Or ask your host for suggestions - he'll help you plan routes as short or long as you'd like.
