Loved the location. Surrounded by fields and so quiet despite being just off the A road. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. The under floor heating kept us nice and warm despite the unseasonably cold weather. Just a short walk to the Red Lion pub where Plawsworth guests get 10% off which was an added bonus. Perfectly situated for visiting Beamish. On arrival we were upgraded too which was very nice and much appreciated.

A key to your own front door with the freedom to come and go as you please. Have some friends over for drinks, relax in front of the TV, cook a meal or order a takeaway. The choice is entirely yours.Imagine your home in the middle of beautiful Durham countryside. You look out of the window and see green fields and blue sky, the silence disturbed only by the birds singing. You step-out into a gorgeous private courtyard, perfect for lazy days, alfresco dining and having fun with the kids. And there’s an abundance of car parking space too.There are no “hidden extras” like drinks from the mini-bar or telephone charges and the cost is much less than most hotels. And, unlike most holiday homes, we’re VAT registered which makes us even more competitive for companies that are able to reclaim VAT. Combine the luxury and comfort of a top hotel with the freedom and independence of home and you have it – Plawsworth Hall cottages and apartments.
Since we diversified from farming in the mid 1990s our purpose built cottages and apartments have proved to be a very popular with Holiday makers, and guests returning to Durham to visit family and friends. The majority of our guests are consultants and engineers working nearby on short term contracts. Our cottages and apartments are situated in the idyllic village of Plawsworth surrounded by beautiful Durham countryside and offer a choice of one and two bedroomed apartments and three bedroomed cottages. They are all stylishly furnished and fully equipped with everything you might need during your stay away from home.There is ample car parking, a weekly housekeeping and linen changing service, an on-site office/reception to provide you with any assistance you may need and cots and high chairs are available free of charge.
Situated midway between historic Durham City (3 miles) and the market town of Chester-le-Street (2 miles), Plawsworth is ideally placed for commuting to the major commercial centres of the North East and an ideal base for touring the Dales, Northumberland, the Borders and North Yorkshire.A busy pub and restaurant are only a three minute stroll away and a paper shop and food store are both within walking distance.
