Company information

Bambuddha started out as a bamboo sunglass business that quickly developed into a community of like-minded individuals who care about the health of the planet. Since 2014 it has grown from a sustainable brand and transformed into an eco-conscious lifestyle with travel at its core. Over the last few years, Bambuddha HQ has been located at this property in Guatemala as we have been integrating the work of Mayan women around Lake Atitlán with their handwoven, naturally-dyed telas. We are specifically working with one family who have experience with bamboo - whom we have been on the hunt for since this journey began. Since we are about 'seeing the world with a new perspective', we thought we would extend our headquarter house and begin to incorporate hosting sustainable spaces as a part of the business experience.

Property information

Just steps from the lake, this cylindrical, open-concept 'treehouse', is a peaceful getaway from the crowds of town. Due to its integration with nature, you will often be greeted by hummingbirds as well as many other beautiful species right on the patio. With plenty of fresh air, natural sounds, and a view of the lake from the room and balcony, this place is not only perfect for disconnection but also reconnection to oneself. Max occupancy = 2 guests. You will be met by our co-host at the entrance of the pathway that leads down towards the house, it is about a minute walk from the main road on route to the lake. At the house, you will be greeted by our resident cat, princess Penelope (or Pp's) who is our very sweet and loving, fluffy cat. Here also resides Algodón (Don don) the albino male cat, he is friendly and likes to talk. A perfect place to settle and regroup from the hustle and bustle of travelling.

Neighbourhood information

The neighbourhood is quiet, quaint, and very safe. The 3 lots that lead to the lake are owned by 3 brothers, this house being of a well-known pastor of town and there are never any worries in this area. Down the main street away from town is a beautiful walk towards the 'finca' where you can follow the trails into nature and explore its beauty. Down the same street towards town (about a 5 minute walk) is one of the best coffee shops in San Pedro called Orbe, a convenience store and some other local restaurants. Just across the street at the entrance of the path is a new italian restaurant called Isabella. You can get around the neighbourhood by walking, if you are walking into town you can choose to hop into a TucTuc as it is about a 30 minute walk, but a lovely one at that. There is private lot just across the street from the gate of the path down to the house. It is free, and although it is not located directly at the house, it is a shared parking for the houses in this area and is secure. You can also park on the left side of the street along the chain linked fence leading up to the door.
