Donja Klada is an old fishing village at the foot of Mount Velebit (right below Northern Velebit National Park ) and 30 minutes drive from Senj. It.s the ideal place for anyone tired of the hustle and bustle of the city. Being the village without restaurants, bars, and even shops, this is the right place to feel the power of silence and the scent of the sea, recharge your batteries and rest your soul. A walk along the well-tended coastal trails in unspoiled nature will help you refresh and revitalise yourself.

In the hinterland of Donja Klada, hikers can climb the highest peak of Mount Velebit range Zavizan (1,594 m), one of the most famous sites in Northern Velebit National Park. Holds the oldest high elevation weather station in Croatia, a mountain hut and the Velebit Botanical Garden with world endemic herb Velebitska Degenija. Visit nearby Zavratnica Cove, one of the most beautiful coves on the Croatian coast, protected in the category of significant landscapes. When it comes to its origins, Zavratnica is actually a submerged torrent valley with canyon cliffs approximately 100 meters high. The length of the cove is approximately 900 meters, and the width varies between 50 to 150 meters. The site dates back to the Cretaceous period. There are 129 plant species in Zavratnica, 100 of them autochthonous, and 29 allochthonous. Enjoy the privacy of the stunning Grbacka Cove or climb up to the remnants of the Gradina Fort, which was inhabited from prehistory through the Roman period to the Middle Ages.
