Guest House FLOREUS was built in 1230 and is located in the old town of Cres, right next to the parish church of St. Mary Snow with a bell tower. The church was built in the fifteenth century. The front of the church is a stone group "Annunciation", and in a relief of the Virgin Mary from the XV. st. In the ground flour of FLOREUS there is famous mediterranean restaurant Busola (compass) which is visited by many celebrities, artists and business people, like Iman and David Bowie, and many local celebrities and people from cultural and public life. The restaurant is well known for the fresh prepared fish and seafood, Cres lamb, homemade cakes and excellent wines. On the upper floors are rooms and studio / apartments. Guests at the accommodation can use restaurant services at preferential prices.
Owner of Floreus is Mr. Raul Cvijetić, sailor and adventurer, found his love for the diverse landscapes and romantic beaches in this beautiful Mediterranean town. His apartment is located on the top floor, so he together with his guests enjoys hanging out with them in a restaurant or on board of a ship in the waters of the island throughout the whole year.
Cres has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by prehistoric ruins. The presence and influence of Greek culture in the region is confirmed with material remains (amphorae, money), while Roman rule in this region had the most impact. At the turn of the 6th to the 7th century Croats settlediIn this area, and at the time of Prince Branimir in the 9th century they have already managed the island. According to the census of 2001 in the city of Cres lives 2,959 inhabitants. The most important industries in Cres are tourism, shipbuilding, fishing and olives. A special pleasure to tourists provide numerous restaurants with fresh fish, lamb, olive oil, ... galleries and souvenir shops with original paintings and souvenirs of local artists and handmade.
