I have a degree in economy for the management of cultural heritage at the Catholic University of Milan. Work at Orta, where I live, in a real estate agency. Orta is the most important town of the lake, as well as what it gave the lake its name. The Island of San Giulio is part of its municipal boundaries, with its impressive basilica and its ancient history of castles and treasures, but also of dragons and saints. To reach the island you can take one of the boats that depart regularly from the central square. The medieval village was built on the slopes of a promontory, on which was later built the Holy Mountain, since 2003 part of the heritage of humanity list compiled by UNESCO. I can not describe in a few lines the value of stone streets, the romantic views, the decorated iron balconies, and the atmosphere that is breathed in every alleyway.
