The architectural complex that houses the accommodation dates back to the 13th century and is called "Ex Convento delle Zitelle Sperse". Located in the historic center of Orvieto, it is the result of the adaptation of different building types that over time have assumed the most varied uses and functions. Originally an urban noble palace, it became a private residence for a certain period until it was renovated in the 16th century to house the nuns of the Convent of Santa Maria Maddalena, commonly called the "Convertite". Later the monastery was suppressed and the building increased the patrimony of a city institute that already had a long history: the "Conservatorio delle Zitelle Sperse", a female orphanage that housed "zitelle" orphans, that is "sperse". Thanks to the legacy of Gerolamo Pecorelli, a wealthy Orvieto to whom the street is dedicated, the pious work had economic and lasting stability. In 1920 the Via Pecorelli complex lost this function and was destined for schools of various orders for about sixty years.
