This casual Ryoken really exceeded our expectations. Situated in beautiful Magome, our room overlooked the back of the property towards the hills - beautiful. With traditional tatami flooring our room was simple but perfect. The shared toilets/bathing facilities were clean and had everything you needed. The highlight for us was the dinner and breakfast - wow. The food was incredible, homemade, traditional Japanese food and lots of it! The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you - we would love to stay again.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor.
