Murasakino Guesthouse is a family run cozy guesthouse located just north of central Kyoto in a peaceful residential area where guests can experience the life of locals. The house itself is around 90 years old and is build in the old traditional style of Machiya house; wooden frame and pillars supporting bamboo and earthen walls. We have taken great care to preserve the authentic old style atmosphere while at the same time providing modern day comforts such as western style toilet and modern bathing facility. It is suitable for a couple, family or small group who would like to spend quiet and relaxing time away from the noisy city center. Hi, we are Manami (from Kyoto, Japan) and Einar (from Iceland), a couple who love living in Kyoto and would like to provide our house to visitors who want to experience the unique charm of staying in a traditional Kyoto house. The neighborhood has a nice and relaxing atmosphere which is the reason why it is popular with the locals to live here. There are also many interesting things to see and do within a walking distance. For example: Shin-Omiya shopping street with many restaurants, shops, public bath etc The large Daitoku-ji temple complex, Imamiya shrine, Funaokayama park, and Funaoka Onsen Vivre shopping mall Kinkaku-ji temple Kamogawa river Kyoto Botanical gardens And just by taking a stroll around the neighborhood you can discover many other smaller temples and shrines or other interesting places off the beaten path.
