Spacious living at its best for a family of four. Loved the soft jazz on arrival and the decor is fabulous. Beds are very comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities we needed. Surprised with fresh eggs, bread etc. And the option to make ourselves a martini! So spoilt.

Company information

We have lovingly redeveloped Bell Hill Apartments with the expertise of heritage architect Ian Butcher. We believe ‘the greenest building is one that already exists’, and Bell Hill’s restoration focused on (and continues to focus on) reducing CO2 emissions. Bell Hill now features recycled timbers and fitments from the original structure repurposed as handrails, benchtops, shelving, doors, steps and skirtings. There is New Zealand wool carpet throughout, and the apartments use hydro power. Skylights open up to provide fresh air, and there is direct access outdoors. Please see our website for the full outline of Bell Hill’s fantastic design elements. We also focus on cultural engagement at Bell Hil. We endorse the Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature project and we look forward to further collaboration to promote Dunedin as a diverse literary experience. We’re an ancillary member of Film Otago Southland and welcome enquires for location shoots or accommodation. We also endorse the aims of the Dunedin City Council’s Heritage Strategy and communicating the heritage character of Dunedin as idealised in the concept of New Zealand’s Romantic City.

The elegant spaces and luxurious decor set the scene for a comfortable and relaxing stay, with plenty of room for couples or a family across two double bedrooms. The kitchen is all set up for foodies, and guests love the double height living spaces and private, covered balconies. Each of the three apartments includes 2 king bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living and dining spaces, free Wifi and a smart TV, and off-street parking. Each beautifully appointed apartment has its own style. Gaynor Clayton Apartment Prepare to be inspired by thoughtful splashes of colour, pattern and texture. This family-friendly option can sleep 5 people. John Campell Apartment The interiors feature subtle tartans, deliciously opulent leather, flashes of silver and a nod to the orient. Views over the First Church with peeks down historic Burlington Street. Henry Matthews Apartment With its interior inspired by the colours of nature in the urban environment, this apartment boasts a balcony with afternoon sun and views over the rooftops towards the Octagon.

Our apartments are a short stroll to the Octagon and all that it offers. Our favourite cafes, bars and restaurants include Etrusco at The Savoy, Bacchus. the Octagon, and Two Chefs Bistro. Also check out The Corner Shop, The Best Cafe, and Albar. Bell Hill is close to retail shopping, supermarkets, beauty and hair salons, theatres, museums and art galleries. For the more active you can easily connect to fabulous walking and cycling trails. Our fantastic hotel manager, Dan, can you meet you on-site and act as a concierge if you need help during your stay.
