My property has wonderful views of the inner Hokianga Harbour and at times you see glorious sunsets and reflections. The accommodation is adjoined to the main house but has a private entrance. It is a mezzanine floor situation consisting of a bedroom and lounge. The main bedroom and bathroom are upstairs with the lounge downstairs. The upstairs bedroom has a Queen size bed. The lounge has a Queen size Sofa bed and a single bed to accommodate 3 extra people of the same group. This is not private from the upstairs area and you would have to use the same bathroom. It would be suitable for a family with young adults from the age of 13 years. There is a small fridge, microwave, toaster, and electric jug. TV with Netflix, Freeview, etc but not Sky TV. FREE WI-FI A continental breakfast is provided consisting of home made muesli, weetbix, cornflakes, fruit, yoghurt, home made bread and jams. Take in the view of the Harbour and sunrise from the upstairs room.

I was born in the local Hokianga hospital and grew up on a farm in the district. At the age of 12yrs I was sent to Lupton House boarding school, in Whangarei for 4 years where I attended Whangarei Girls High School. My first job was working as a Land girl on my parents farm until the local Bank offered me a job, which was so much more appealing than maintaining fences and picking up and pressing wool at shearing time. I transferred to Lower Hutt with the Bank and married a few years later. I worked at several jobs over the years with the last 15 managing Storage Facilities in Auckland. I retired and moved back to my spiritual home of Rawene 5 years ago after spending the past 36 years in Auckland. I have three daughters, seven grandchildren, 4 hens and a cat called Anzac. I love gardening and am kept extremely busy maintaining my large property which appears to increase in size each year due to my increasing age !! I also enjoy sewing but have little time for that these days as so busy with BNB.

Rawene is a quiet little town with the population of around 450 to 500 with a large percentage of retired residents. It is a great overnight stop handy to the Car ferry for an early start, or a late finish to your day. We have several activities in the surrounding Hokianga to visit if you wish to stay longer than 1 night and use us as a base. You could easily fit in two adventures a day. Footprints of Kupe, Tane Mahuta in the Waipoua Forest, Sand sliding Opononi, Museum Opononi, Wairere Boulders, The oldest bridge in NZ at Kohukohu, Koutu Boulders, Footprints Waipoua which is a guided evening tour bookable on the internet, Day trip to Cape Reinga or the Bay of Islands, Kerikeri, Bush walks, Clendon house, Mangrove walk, Art galleries or just put your feet up and read a good book. I have many books about the history of the beautiful Hokianga. Evening eating places are limited in Rawene. We have a Takeaway Bar with the usual Fish n Chips etc and in season flounder to die for. This closes around 6.30pm. There are great cafes catering from breakfast to late afternoon.
