The Jungle Cabin is a lovely hilltop rustic home located in Bastimentos Island, right on where the path to Wizard Beach begins. It's a 300 mts walk up the hill once you get off the boat to get to it, fabulous view from the top! It is perfect as a base for adventurers and explorers that are enthusiastic about a close experience with nature and local ambiance and is just 5 minutes away from the town center (Old Bank). -Sea/Mountains view - Hilltop home with balcony - Easy access to dock for taxi boats *5 min walk - Surrounded by jungle - Rustic - Family friendly zone - Exposure to wilderness - Outdoors activities - Local parties/Night life It’s located in Bastimentos. The northwest coast of the island is home to beaches that serve as nesting grounds for sea turtles, while a big part of the northern and southern coasts consist of mangrove islands and coral reefs that lie within the boundaries of the Parque Nacional Marino Isla Bastimentos. There’s access to activities such as bird watching, hiking through jungle trails, surfing (In season), local dining, bars and music, swimming, snorkeling and diving in turquoise water along white sand beaches. The house is completely made out of wood with a balcony facing the ocean and lush nature around it. It’s a cozy caribbean home decorated with organic items from nature, integrating plants and other organic items as the main essence of the space. A variety of species of different plants and fruit trees have been planted on the property to create a small ecosystem and attract wildlife. The islands have occasional power outages that could last a few hours. The cabin is set up to only collect rain water, it is a must to care for this precious resource.
I am an artist and a nature lover besides some other things. I love working with plants, wood, creating decoration from items found in nature and presenting a message with the whole set up of the house, which is to live in harmony with our surroundings. I have learned that living in an island is not a slow type of life but the way life should be, at least for those who want to take their time to live and connect with nature. It has been a whole journey to get the house to look the way it does, I appreciate the help of my friends throughout the process and the power of creativity. What I enjoy about hosting is meeting people from different parts of the world that always have something in common, the curiosity to explore wilderness.
Colorful Caribbean colors are what the basti town is made of. Lush jungle trails are minutes away from the Cabin as well as stores, restaurants and bars. It’s a laid back ambiance with local families living around town, still preserving their simple way of living. There are no cars in Basti, this offers the opportunity to wonder around and admire incredible views of the sea and jungle, birds and insects passing by enjoying the fruits and flowers from this Caribbean paradise. From the Cabin you can hike down through jungle trails for around 20 minutes to visit Wizard Beach. Early in the morning is the best time to spot monkeys swinging on the branches of the trees, on season, surf is the perfect activity to enjoy at Wizard. Another adventure is visiting Red frog beach. It’s a 10 min boat ride with great views of the mangroves and ocean, they’ll drop you off at the red frog dock and you will hike for around 10 minutes to get to the ocean. Once you are done dining at Red frog, you can start a 1 hour hike up to Polo beach. Get ready to enjoy one of the best snorkel experience in Bocas. There are many tours you can go on to enjoy a swim in the clear waters; sunbathe on the beautiful beaches; go on a diving adventure or snorkeling in its surroundings.
