A 5-min ride from the plaza of Valencia is Chez Mélanie, 2 chalets on the slopes of Mt. Talinis. Valencia in Visayas is called the "Tagaytay" of Dumaguete, because of its cool weather. Chez Mélanie gives you space and privacy. Each unit has a single but spacious and airconditioned bedroom, a modern bathroom with hot water shower, and is serviced by its own kitchenette. Rather than a large pool, Chez Mélanie has chosen to offer its guests, individual small pools, also called "plunge pool". These pools are easier to clean and can have frequent change of water. Thus guests are assured that the water is fresh and clean. Chez Melanie offers the cool, and green life of the mountain, with the comfort and accessibility of the city. You can trek to Casaroro Falls, do a 3-day hike to peaks and lakes, feast at the nightly food stalls of the plaza or relax at the private pool just outside the bedroom, Chez Mélanez is your home.
Downtown Valencia is vibrant and friendly. Every night the town plaza transforms into a "fiesta", where both visitors and locals dine and drink. On Sundays mornings, the public market attracts a cosmopolitan crowd. Mt. Talinis is a favorite of hikers, trekkers, mountaineers and mountain bikers. Sportive mountaineers traverse Mt Talinies in a 2-day climb from Apolong, Valencia to Bediao, Dauin ( or vice-versa ). Others do the trek up to Yagumyum Lake for a day. Still others just go down the slippery 300 steps to see the majestic Casaroro Falls. Most visitors find the experience challenging and spectacular.
