We were six staying at Aleixo's House for the weekend. It was simply a dream. We just loved its beautifully curated landscape garden, the swimming pool area, the barbecue, and the patio for al fresco meals, while the brazilian hammock was a hit with the youngest in our party. During the day, the view over the rolling hills is breathtaking and you can relax by the swimming pool, with birds chirping and the occasional sheep baaing in the vicinity. At night you can literally spend hours stargazing or take a dip in the lit swimming pool. We shared many happy family moments at Aleixo's House. The house itself, both rustic and contemporary, is a beautifully renovated, traditional Portuguese abode with thick walls, original doors and flooring, upcycled rustic furniture, modern facilities and a fully equipped kitchen. The whole experience was invigorating and we have made plans to go back.

Aleixo's House is a local housing in the village of Santo Aleixo, in the district of Portalegre. In the heart of this peaceful location, you will feel the true tranquillizing Alentejo and experience in an authentic manner the quotidian of the village. Perfect for groups & families who look for a unique traditional experience, Aleixo's House is not only the best place to relax but also to discover and explore the various cities of Alentejo (Estremoz is just 22km away and Elvas 24km) or even to travel beyond borders on the way to Spain (Badajoz is 47.6km away). Aleixo's House is a fully equipped house ready to receive you. Bed linen and towels are provided during your stay, and the kitchen has all the necessary equipment so that you can cook your own meals every day. The private outside area includes a 100m2 space for meals and a 2000m2 field with old olive trees and an extraordinary view to the endless Alentejo fields. Groceries can be bought in several small shops in the village or at bigger supermarkets in the city of Estremoz or Elvas. But you can also choose to eat typical food at one of the village's restaurants or order home.
Aleixo's House was born in the summer of 2017, giving a new life to the red house at the end of Vale da Quinta street. After getting to know the space, we immediately understood this little corner in Alentejo had to be shared, thus initiating this project. We want to enable everyone to experience it and enjoy it as much as we did. We imagined meals outside in the warmth of Alentejo's sun and nature. We imagined dinners in a full table with good bread, cheese, and wine. We imagined trips to Estremoz and Badajoz all in one day. And we imagined happy people when seeing our gate opened to receive them. We believe happiness lives here and we want to invite you to believe in that too.
Santo Aleixo is a typical and small village in Monforte, district of Portalegre, in the Alentejo region. The village, its people and the surrounding nature made us fall in love with the place and we believe you will do so too. If you are looking for a relaxing and battery recharging stay, while having the opportunity to feel like a local, then this is the place for you! Moreover, Santo Aleixo has a privileged localization, which also allows you to explore the most important cities in Alentejo with just a 30 minutes car ride, or engage in a trip beyond borders to Badajoz in Spain (44min approx.).
