The people were open, friendly and courteous.

The people were open, friendly and courteous. There seemed to be less stress than we have experienced in other cities and this was very apparent on the roads. We never felt ill at ease. The level of English is exceptional. The range and quality of foods is very good with something for everyone. The old centre is astonishingly small, so much can be done comfortably on foot but with much climbing: the city is built on a steep hillside but there is an excellent funicular.

We come from South Africa and flew to Porto to do a pilgrim's Camino from Valenca to Santiago de Compostela and visited again after finishing our pilgrimage. The boat on the river was my best place to visit. The salad and beer at the restaurant on the riverside was excellent. We ate at a Arty coffee shop in the main shopping street around the corner of the premises we stayed. Friendly staff. We walked where we wanted to be. The people in most of the shops don't understand English so much. We are form South Africa, where our second language is English. That is a bit difficult. Google translate helped. Sightseeing red bus - waste of money.

Porto is a beautiful city with lots of sightseeing opportunities. Ideally enjoyed our guided cycle tour with Artur definitely worth booking as you get to learn lots about the city while enjoying the fantastic scenery. The restaurants served the best seafood I've ever tasted and really reasonable price.I used the Bolt app for taxis which was definitely worthwhile.

Wonderful city, people are very friendly, can walk around easily to monuments, restaurants, wine tasting, street cars. The city has steep steps back and forth from the river, so need for gyms to get your cardiac exercise done. There are cheap Uber or taxis if you need to get back up if necessary

Wonderful city with so much to see and experience.

Wonderful city with so much to see and experience. We did the "6 bridge river cruise" which was lovely and learned so much about the city. The food is great. You must try the "francesinha" at Brasao Restaurant". Definitly the best in the city. We also enjoyed a night with "Fado". The perfomers and the location were perfect at "Fado Maior do Porto". The cable car ride was really nice, the views are breathatking and when you hop off at Vila Nova de Gaia there is so much to see in the harbour area. The Light show inside the Torre dos Clerigos is amazing. the Mercado do Bolhao is so interactive and there is so much to see and food to try.

Porto is an amazing city and a must see on your trip to Portugal. Beautiful monuments and architecture, great restaurants, lively city vibe, many caves for a fun port tasting experience, close to the Douro Valley or other small towns if you would like day trips, lovely river separating the two sides of the city where you can take a short or long cruise. So much to offer.

I had an incredible experience. All the staff were really lovely, welcoming and friendly. We had a port wine taster on arrival which was a nice touch. They even served me birthday cake with breakfast on my birthday. The bed was comfortable. There was enough space to put suitcases in the room. It was nice to have a balcony to the street. The location was very central. It was the best place I stayed in Portugal and would stay with FLH again in a heartbeat.

This Hotel is perfect if you want a quiet and cheap place. The room and the toilet are really spacious and clean. Is in a good position, easy to find and you can reach the city canter by walk! The owner of the Hotel - Miguel - is one of the kindness person I met during all my trip in Portugal. Our stay at Casa do Cativo was by far the best place we stayed during our trip to Portugal -- including a five star hotel in Lisboa. The staff was so accommodating and friendly! We were located close to lots of sightseeing, good food, and the metro/train stations. The room was a wonderful oasis during our trip, and I can't recommend this spot enough. I frequently meet hotel staff who are annoyingly obsequious, but not here. I found every member of staff extraordinarily convivial, patient with an english-only speaking American, and genuinely friendly and interested in making my stay a comfortable one. I am wrapping up a month in Portugal and this has been my favorite and most memorable accomodations because of the quality of staff.
