We can not ask for more when it is ten minutes by car, either from the nature reserved beach of the Garajau or from Praia dos Reis Magos or even the airport. Backpack with towel and bathing suit are therefore a mandatory requirement. Remember that Madeira is conducive to diving for most of the year. Nearby there are supermarkets, bakeries, cafes, pharmacy among other shops. If you want to find other places or activities, the city of Funchal is 20 minutes away by car.
