After Walter and Jodi were married they soon moved from San Diego to Durango and purchased the Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast in 2004. Since then they have built a solid reputation for hospitality, making guests feel like they are part of the family as evidenced by many guest reviews. Upon arrival guests are warmly welcomed by Sonny the family Labradoodle and of course Jodi and Walter. The guests love spending time at the property to take in the natural beauty of the San Juan Mountains and Animas Valley, along with the myriad of wild bird activity and frequent deer. They excel at providing a safe and relaxing home environment to their guests. Come stay at Country Sunshine and use it as your home base for the multitude of outdoor activities offered in this area. If you need local knowledge assistance, Jodi and Walter would love to help you with recommendations and reservations. If you need to get away, or you just need to renew your spirit, then consider booking a stay at Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast for your visit to Durango. With views of forested mountains and the sound of the nearby Animas River, our guest rooms are a perfect mix of comfort and rustic charm, providing you with a peaceful and relaxing stay. There are several indoor common areas, including a comfortable seating area with leather couches in front of a large stone fireplace, plus a separate TV lounge. Among the many unique gathering areas, our property boasts an outdoor hot tub (available at all times throughout the year). We include a breakfast buffet with muffins, breakfast pastries, bagels/cream cheese, hard-boiled eggs from pasture-raised chickens, fresh fruit, and yogurt on-request from 7:30am until 10am. Our signature home-baked chocolate chip cookies are always at hand, always delicious. Also enjoy our spacious deck with comfortable wooden tables and chairs, and stunning views of the San Juan Mountains. Our expansive 100ft deck offers up close encounters with myriads of beautiful birds that flock to feeders in oak and pine trees adjacent to the deck.
