Fountain City has a great “small town” feel, where it’s possible to walk to bars, restaurants, coffee, and our convenience store. We are located right on the Great River Road. Surrounding homes are residential, with small businesses located right up the road in the Downtown area. Trains are frequently seen right in front of the house, as well as watercraft on the river – everything from boats and jet-skis, to large barges and old-time riverboat cruises! Fountain City does have a large boat launch area if you’d like to explore the river, as well as a nice city park just down the road. Bluffs and other hiking/biking options abound! Watch overhead for soaring/nesting eagles! Merrick State Park is only 5 miles north for amazing opportunities to explore the river, canoe/kayak, picnic, experience wildlife, etc.
