We arrived in the evening and were able to chose which room. The bed was huge and very comfortable for 2 people, and we had armchairs and table which was nice. It got a bit cold in the room but we had plenty of blankets. The freezer box works really well with the frozen water bottles from the communal freezer. The instructions to get there were detailed and helpful. Good WiFi. Overall we were comfortable, and we would recommend if you are looking for a budget place to stay on the island.

I have just returned from a fabulous trip to Hilo, much of it was due to the accommodations. I stayed in “studio deluxe bed” room. Have realistic expectations based on the price and I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed. It is a simple, clean, no frills property that you can feel right at home at. The grounds are lush and filled with native birds, especially in the mornings. The wifi worked well. There is no frig, but there is an ice chest to keep your stuff chilled. It is amazing waking up in the middle of a tropical rain forest environment or listening to the rain during the night. The hosts, Katherine & Ben, were always visible and very attentive if I needed assistance. They also gave me suggestions on sightseeing in the local area. I can’t wait to go back and when I do, I wouldn’t even think of staying any place but here.

It suited my needs perfectly. A spacious and well designed room with an en suite toilet and shower with good hot water and, true to its description, a very comfortable bed, the location just 20 minutes from the volcano national park and half an hour from Hilo. Looking out of the window there’s just nature. Even has a stove and everything needed for cooking, which I didn’t use though. Very friendly hosts, the cuddly cats were lovely. I ended up staying two nights longer than I had planned.

Location makes it easy to access either side of the island. Closer to Hilo and the forests which we like, but also has a good head start and away from morning traffic to hop over to the Dryer side on hwy 11 for the day. Also they allowed our two small doge to stay with us as long as they were quiet and we cleaned up after them. Great place to stay for the price!
