Globally, South Africa has 8 of the 1063 world heritage sites and 1 of only 32 "mixed world heritage sites" (natural plus cultural value).The Maloti-Drakensberg is a transboundary site composed of the Sehlathebe National Park in Lesotho and the uKhahlamba Drakensberg National Park (where EMAFWENI is) in South Africa. Our property is located only 600 meters from the end of the road into the mountains, a world heritage site. The road is tarred all the way so no need for a 4X4 vehicle. This place is away from the crowds and gets you in touch with the reality of beauty created in this world. This silence preaches an unforgettable sermon.

After extensive international travel, we the owners, selected to live in this little pocket of paradise; Emafweni, which in Zulu means 'Place in the clouds' Being mature scientists in the fields of geology and the living sciences, our greatest pleasure is sharing topical information in our fields, should our guests be interested. Happiness for us is to provide an unforgettable on-the-fly experience for visitors, both pleasurable and informative.

One of the special attractions of this place include outstanding bird watching on site, not only at the little lakeside, but in the profusion of gigantic shade trees. Besides the birds, our other pets include the grey duiker, bush buck, the cervil cat,oribi, zebra, Egyptian mongoose, rabbits, hares, bush pig and a few Koi. All walks into the mountains are on paths and marked. Jens doesn't mind giving free conducted tours to a unique bushman painting in the neighbourhood. While isolated as we are, there is a varity of activities offered, and dining out places, all within a few minutes drive from Emafweni.
