Gaia's Gift is an off-grid small holding in Rietkuil, nestled between the canola fields of the Overberg Region. Shepherd's Cottage is a 2 sleeper off grid self catering unit. Enjoy hot summer days on the large deck with plenty of shade. Listen to the sounds of nature all around you. Take a stroll along the shaded river path and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. On a clear night lie back and relax on the deck while gazing in wonder at the incredible night sky.
Shepherd's cottage is private, surrounded by acacia and wild olive trees on the banks of the Rietkuil River. Relax and unwind on the large deck while listening to nature. We are blessed with amazing bird life, fish eagles being one of them. We also have Cape Clawless Otters as residents in our stream and many other small animals. Amenities include gas or Weber for cooking, solar fridge and lighting, gas heated shower and a composting toilet. We supply linen (100% cotton ), towels , crockery , cutlery , tea , coffee and sugar. OFF-GRID LIVING. JUST YOU, YOUR PARTNER AND NATURE.
We are located 30km from the historical town of Swellendam. Nestled in a valley surrounded by canola fields with amazing views of the Langeberg and Tradouw's pass where one can visit the pure clean streams to cool off in summer and visit the town of Barrydale . Close to the small town Suurbraak which offers wonderful hiking trails. We are also close to the Bontebok National park and Grootvadersbosch which has some of the largest Redwood trees outside of California. Whale watching at Witsand on the coast where the Breede River meets the Indian Ocean.
