A PEACEFUL FOREST COTTAGE midway between Sedgefield and Knysna, and in the heart of the exquisite Garden Route. Magnificent gardens, forests and pastoral views over the Goukamma Valley. Bring your wellies for a walk down to the river. Forget your worries in this spacious and serene self-catering cottage. It has a cosy, fully equipped kitchenette (fridge, gas hob, combination microwave & convection oven). The exquisite bathroom boasts a heavenly shower. And the balcony overlooks a private woodland. The cottage enjoys complete privacy from the main house. It’s the perfect spot to laze on a sunny day or enjoy an alfresco meal. And in winter, light the wood burning stove to create the perfect cocoon.
We're excited to welcome you to Ganzvlei Manor Cottage - a charming retreat that's a mix of old-world nostalgia & contemporary country living. If you're an avid gardener, you're welcome to get your hands dirty. We love sharing our garden, and it's not unusual for guests to leave with a plant or two. Bird life is abundant, so grab the binoculars & do some bird watching. We have books to help you identify various species. Listen out for the magical cries of the Fish Eagles. Cook up a storm with herbs from the garden and fresh milk and artisanal cheese from the dairy next door. Whether you're staying for a few of days, celebrating a special anniversary, a personal milestone or simply looking to take time out, tell us how we can make your time here special. Great hiking, biking, birding, canoeing, golf, paragliding, sailing, surfing, fishing or lazing on the beach are all just a stone’s throw away. The Goukamma Nature Reserve, a World Heritage Site, is on our doorstep, offering a range of hiking, biking & running trails. Cast your fishing lines alongside local fisher folk at Buffalo Bay, a marine protected area where Southern Right whales return each year to breed and calve their young, and dolphins play in the waves year-round. The Reserve is also a popular birder’s destination with more than 220 recorded species. MUST DO: Wild Oats Farmers Market every Saturday morning. Unquestionably the BEST market on the garden route! Nearby restaurants: River Deck; Earth & Fire; and Wildside Beach Restaurant. Easy access to Knysna (13km), Sedgefield (12km) and Buffalo Bay (10km).
