Paradise On the Bay lies on the water’s edge of Sunny Cove, the name given to the shoreline that stretches from the nearby golden sand of the beach at Fish Hoek to the little railway station of the same name. The Blue-Flag beach at Fish Hoek is best known for its soft golden sand and gentle slope. That means sunbathers and determined sea swimmers can happily coexist and it’s a wonderfully safe beach for children to splash about in. It’s also long enough, if you fancy any water sports like surfing, paddling or kayaking, to indulge to your hearts content, while keeping a safe distance from the section of the beach staked out for swimmers and watched over by lifeguards. This glorious beach and all the shopping opportunities in the village beyond it is about a 10-minute stroll away from Paradise On the Bay. The property perches just above Jager’s Walk; a scenic path that weaves in and out amongst the huge boulders along the oceans edge and provides a direct link between your accommodation and the beach at Fish Hoek. Just think; from bedroom to beach with not a single busy road to cross, no traffic jams to contend with and no Parking Full sign to greet you when you finally get there!

I own two rescue cats - I call both of them Chicken! I also have two very special daughters and two spirited grandchildren. I am very actively involved in my local Rotary Club and have made some wonderful friends there. My favourite time of the day is the early morning when you will often find me on the beach enjoying a bracing but exhilarating swim. My motto is: It’s lovely……..once you are in! To keep fit and healthy I also take part in water aerobic and line dancing classes and I thoroughly enjoy a good game of bowls. But my real passion is gardening; either pottering about in my own garden, or working alongside fellow Rotarians to bring life and colour to some of the kerbsides in Fish Hoek. Over the years I have met a number of wonderful people who have come to stay at Paradise On the Bay (formerly called Nautilus Lodge). Some have become dear friends, some have travelled with me to explore other parts of South Africa and some have inspired me to visit their own beautiful countries. Many return year after year to enjoy the views, the peace, and the tranquillity this special place affords. I count myself incredibly privileged and delighted to be able to live here.

From the wild ruggedness of Cape Point National Park where the Atlantic Ocean collides with the Indian Ocean and baboons still bound through the ‘fynbos’ (natural heathland with two thirds of the plant species here found nowhere else on earth), to the breath taking views along Chapman’s Peak Drive and the heart stopping panoramas visible from the top of Table Mountain, in this part of the world, you are never far away from something to feast your eyes on. You needn’t venture further than your balcony at Paradise On the Bay to hear and see the whales breaching in the bay. At night time, if you leave your windows open, you can often hear what sounds like a mighty ‘roar’ as the Southern Right ‘blows’ just below the surface of the water. Whichever part of the year you choose to visit Paradise On the Bay, the soothing sounds of the sea are constant company. Whether it’s the cry of a distant seagull or the sound of waves gently breaking on the rocks just metres away from your bedroom, it’s a soundscape that will lull you to sleep at night and herald the dawn of a new day.
