Haga Haga, a mere 2 km from OppiePlaas Country Estate is a quaint holiday village along the coveted Eastern Cape Wild Coast. It is renowned for its tranquillity and natural beauty. “One of the villagers told me that when he returned from a long beach walk with his dog, their footprints were still the only ones in the sand – that’s how remote the charming, unspoiled village of Haga Haga is.” (Extract from a recent magazine article.) Haga Haga has a safe swimming beach along the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and a beautiful lagoon. Try your luck at rock and surf fishing while your children collect shells or play in the protected waters of the lagoon. Fancy some golf, a game of tennis or exploring the area on horseback? No problem! These activities too, and more, are available. The village and its immediate surrounding are declared nature and marine conservancies owing to an abundance of indigenous fauna and flora species. These include, amongst others, the Cape Clawless Otter and the Blue Duiker, Millwood trees, Wild Irises, Gladiolus, Hibiscus and Orchids. More than 300 indigenous wildflower species have been positively identified and many more still require identification.
