Overlooking a valley, Thabametsi Farmi offers rustic self-catering accommodation in Maanhaarrand and 20 minutes' drive from Magaliesburg. Activities include swimming, hiking, hiking trails suitable for cycling and running, 4 Mountain bikes to rent out, Canoeing, Table tennis, Bird watching, Walking the labyrinth, Tractor cart rides, Donkey cart rides, Pony rides, Biking (bring own for kids), Outdoor play equipment for kids, Trampoline, Jungle Gym, Obstacle Course, Fantasy maze, Interaction / feeding of various farm animals and Playroom with DSTV. The well-appointed chalets are equipped with an indoor fireplace, kitchen facilities, a bathroom and TV. Barbecue facilities are available. At Thabametsi Farm you will find an outdoor pool, a children's playground and various activities available for children and adults. Canoeing or picnic opportunities are possible at the nearby dam. The property has farm animals such as goats, ponies and ducks. This farm stay is about 1 hour drive from Maropeng and The Cradle of Humankind.

Our beautiful farm Thabametsi (meaning Mountain Water) lies between two koppies overlooking the valley to the Witwatersrand Mountains. We have a mixture of agricultural and wilderness areas making it fairly unique. Grasslands for the animals to graze on and the wilderness areas that provide shelter for the little creatures – squirrels, monkeys, buck, mongoose, porcupines, jackal, civets and even a serval that has made the farm it’s home. We cater for families and couples in our self catering cottages. Children are welcome and there are many activities to keep them occupied whilst our dog visitors are free to run and explore the open spaces. Only just over an hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria in the beautiful Magaliesburg area.
SELF-CATERING ACCOMMODATION Only just over an hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria in the beautiful Magaliesburg area. Our son started the accommodation for overseas students doing a gap year in South Africa soon after we purchased the farm in 2001. He then decided to move on and we gradually renovated the original old farm buildings over time and did extensive alterations to three of our cottages to make them more spacious. We also added a coffee and gift shop and a games room. There are currently six units ranging from a 2 to an 8 sleeper which are family, pet and child friendly. Many extra services and activities are available on offer on request. All units have braai facilities and are fully equipped.
From fishing, hiking, air balloons, game viewing to just relaxing with family, friends and pets.
