The Fox & Pheasant is located in a charming village within easy reach of Carlisle. For railway enthusiasts, Armathwaite is a stop on the Settle/Carlisle railway and the village is situated on the river Eden. We stayed on a Sunday and although the pub was very busy, it wasn't a problem getting a table for dinner. There was a varied menu at reasonable prices.

Staff are so friendly and accommodating. 2nd time we've stayed here and we've had the same fantastic experience with the staff on both occasions. We stayed with our dog and the staff were great with him, too. Breakfast included is great, nice food and plenty of it to fill you up! Rooms are well equipped, comfy beds and the fact there's a bath is a winner in my books! Evening meal in the bar was great too, nice food, generous portion sizes.

Everything about The Dukes Head Inn was fantastic. The food, the rooms and the cleanliness were all top notch. The location and the parking were also really good but it’s the staff that make this place. They are exceptional. We'll be staying here again in the not too distant future.
