We got there at lunch time so had lunch which was very good and certainly plenty to eat. We then had dinner again a very nice and well cooked l and finally breakfast,top notch more than enough to eat and nice and hot. Staff all very helpful and friendly

Our room had a view of fields and the river with a stone bridge crossing. Plenty of parking opposite in the pub car park. The room was well presented with a very comfy bed. The bathroom was adequate, if small. Nice atmospere in the bar, well used by locals. There was a separate games room with a pool/snooker table. Having read previous reviews we had high expectations but our one-night stay didn’t fulfil them.

For railway enthusiasts, Armathwaite is a stop on the Settle/Carlisle railway and the village is situated on the river Eden. We stayed on a Sunday and although the pub was very busy, it wasn't a problem getting a table for dinner. There was a varied menu at reasonable prices.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The bedroom was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped. We love the location of the inn in a quiet picturesque village with lovely walks. Both dinner and breakfast were superb - particularly the steak pie and crispy chilli beef.
