Bel & The Dragon at The Red Lion is a historic grade II-listed coaching inn with stunning features dating back to 1669 and possibly even earlier in origin; much of the original building still stands. It has been sensitively restored this year, with the aim of providing a premium, contemporary English inn, with sophisticated charm and historic character. The building features a 17th century fireplace and exposed beams, it also has free WiFi and free on-site parking.

The room was large, very clean and a huge bed. Lots of nice extras in the room like coffee pods, biscuits a small glass of sloe gin each. Very quiet and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices.

This is a really comfortable and friendly place. The staff made us feel so comfortable from the very beginning. The decor was beautiful and we loved the 15th century doorways. Beautiful food too - we had dinner and breakfast here. Good location, with easy access into town.

Having eaten breakfast and dinner on 2 days, as well as a buffet served for a function in the tepee, I was blown away by the quality of the food. Fresh, top-quality produce (which we saw delivered daily) and a really talented team in the kitchen resulted in some of the best food I've had for some time. Creative not but overly fussy menu which changes regularly All the staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Shame we are a flight away !

Breakfast was amazing and the lady on duty that morning was so very lovely. Dinner was good but very limited vegetarian choice. It was a very nice old pub and building with a lovely log fire.
