A great choice for people who want to spend the night in a ryokan. Super clean, beautiful interior, definitely the largest space of all the places we stayed in Japan. Very nice host. We definitely recommend it.

Cute little guest house. Loved the Japanese style breakfast. Very clean room. Shared bathroom/ showers was a new experience for our family, but it worked out well. Sleeping on tatami turned out surprisingly super comfortable. This was the first stop on our trip to Japan, and we were happy to have it as an introduction to the Japanese ways.

Excellent starter Ryokan experience. Highly recommended if you did not have ryokan experience. Good Japanese breakfast, nice kaiseki dinner, good selection of drinks for reasonable charges Good location - right next to geisha quarter, but away from the noise,

The staff is amazing; they put you in an elevator and then run up the stairs to meet you at the top. They try very hard to show hospitality. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We ate two dinners and two breakfasts in private rooms, and all were delightful and beautiful.

Perfect location, across the road from the fish market and walkable to where we wanted to go. We walked too and from the train station (15 to 20 mins) Small but well designed rooms. Lovely ambiance throughout. Beautiful public bath and not crowded when I attended. Booked a dinner at restaurant, absolutely amazing quality, taste and value. Outstanding experience.

The staff, they were so nice and helpful, they really made Guest House Pongyi feel like a home away from home! Can't thank them enough for their generosity and welcoming attitude! Besides the dorm and bed were good, the common areas wer spacious and welcoming. For a little extra fee there was a great breakfast with coffee.

Fantastic hosts! Thanks so much for organizing the dinner the first night, it was really beautiful. Highly recommend staying here. It's about a 25 minute train ride into the cbd but I really liked the opportunity to stay in a more traditional place and it was a lovely area. I would definitely stay here again. Bonus was discovering the wonderful cat temple! It's on the street behind the B&B down from the main temple. The goshuin I got was amazing!

A really lovely hotel. Staff was very friendly. Although bathrooms/showers are shared, we never ran into any issue regarding potential waiting time or cleanliness. Location is also good (close to the castle park and the oldtown while also being quite close to the train station). I really liked the lounge on the second floor - very comfy. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious and there were some vegetarian options as well. All in all a pleasant experience.
