"The Anchor Inn was a traditional Drovers Inn dating back to 1888. Over recent years, it has undergone tasteful modernisation and now boasts a nautical-themed bar and restaurant area with hearty food and good ale. We have various rooms, all en-suite, and many have views of the Gareloch Sea. The staff was absolutely incredible, especially the bartender. Breakfast was delicious, the pub has good beers on tap, and the room was comfortable. Parking for the family suite was great. Again, the wonderful staff made this place a hidden gem.

The breakfast menu offered a wide selection of options and was cooked to perfection with wonderful ingredients. The hotel has a list of their food suppliers on display and this food provenance is reflected in the wonderful freshly cooked dinners we enjoyed. The main courses were all large portions and very satisfying. The bar had an excellent selection of scottish gins all well worth trying. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and very clean with plenty of tea and coffee supplies. The hosts Irene and Scott are very friendly and made us very welcome.

The bar has an open fire, and traditional Scottish food is served. Very elegant hotel, with old-fashioned charm (in the past it was a drovers’ inn), clean, well organized. Very kind and very helpful staff, they welcomed us in the late evening. We didn't try the breakfast, but we enjoyed an excellent whiskey in the pub on the ground floor of the hotel, in a very familiar atmosphere. highly recommended
