We were able to unwind and relax in a super comfortable room with amazing views out over the garden which features rocky outcrops which adjoin the labyrinth rock special site next door. The spa pool was so relaxing after a long day pf travel and we slept like babies in the quiet room with windows open and cool Takaka breeze. Hosts were perfect, very informative but also respectful of your space and privacy. Having laundry and kitchen facility was added bonus to an already amazing property. We can't wait to return. The owners were also kind enough to let us charge our EV (pre-arranged) which is a tremendous convenience to start the day recharged,

The bed and breakfast also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. Serge and his wife run a beautiful and slightly quirky spa/B&B quite near Golden Bay. The hot tubs were calming after a busy day and the traditional, wood-fired sauna made my evening. Even a cool water pool to plunge in after.

Situated in the heart of Pohara Beach at Golden Bay, Ratanui Lodge was fully refurbished in winter 2021, it offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and free continental breakfast in a beautiful natural setting. It boasts a saltwater swimming pool, a restaurant and a lounge bar. Very well appointed room in lovely location and our restaurant meal was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with activities in the area.

Outdoor dining is also possible at the campground. Nat was a great host! Very welcoming, helping us navigate the property. She gave us all the instructions needed to have an excellent stay, and even let us help train the alpacas in the morning. The location was private and peaceful at night. It was like we were alone under the stars. We will never forget our time at Nat’s house truck.

A comprehensive European or Kiwi breakfast with fresh ingredients and fruit ensures a good start to the day. The breakfasts were exceptional. Completely organic/homemade with products from their land. Fresh fruits, juices, preserves, meat, veggies, eggs etc etc! We purchased Renes pizza for dinner. The best pizza we have ever eaten!! Outdoor hot tub (star gazing at night), sauna and jet swim pool, sun decks, bird aviary. Accommodations - private bed/bath, shared living room and dining room with lots of space and furniture, outdoor sun deck area with seating and tables. Brochures for areas of interest in Nelson. Filip and Sonya were fabulous hosts-very hospitable and generous with information and recommendations. The shuttle service to Abel Tasman made a day tramping in the park seamless. We enjoyed the accommodations so much we were lucky enough to be able to extend our stay by one day. Pōhara is an excellent location for visiting the Golden Bay and I can’t recommend the Bay Lodge highly enough.

The apartment includes 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom with a shower, a seating area, Private Outdoor Hot Tub available for Kids and a kitchen with a fridge. Amazing place - wish we could have stayed longer. Nat & Grant are lovely and super helpful. Perfect place to disconnect, the alpacas are also great and friendly.
