Not the Eiffel tower I visited in the past with all the new barricades around it so it has lost some of the splendour and romance when approaching it on foot. The queues to buy tickets are also worse than I remember but this could just be because everything feels much more claustrophobic with all the fences around. Overall though, it is still the Eiffel Tower and an amazing structure to see (especially at night) and from which to experience the views of Paris. We ate lunch at the Jules Verne restaurant and it was amazing - $$$ but amazing!
Tower itself is incredible, go up at night the entire tower lights up on the hour every hour. We got a lift up and walked the steps down. But book online as the booked advanced ticket line is next to non compared to people arriving on a whim needing to line up for hours. Be prepared for people selling tat from every angle!
Photo opportunity!! We went 2 times during the trip. We went at night when it’s all lit up - it’s STUNNING at night and the views from the top of the city lights is just beyond beautiful 2nd visit by day, used the cafe there & the gift shop. Brilliant views of the river from the top in daylight. The grounds around the Tower are also lovely. I went in February so the trees are bare then.
What happened to the spirit of Paris? Now it is encased in glass, you can't walk underneath the tower, and queues . . . one to get in, then one to go up the tower. The bad thing is the touts and souvenir sellers, who wait outside the exit to pounce, and you can't even walk around the area, as the souvenir sellers are laid out all around, it is awful. What happened to the French pride and spirit?
It was amazing! We went on a Monday afternoon without reservations. The line wasn't very long to get our tickets and spent about three hours from start to finish. That day it was overcast and perfect weather. I was very happy with our last day in Paris. That night we went back to see it light up at sunset. It was awesome!
As it goes with tourism there are alot of scammers. People will rush up to you with clipboards asking for donations after they have worked out your english. These are scams and just ignore and walk away.
The location was exceptional for a quick weekend in Paris. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were ideally located for the Eiffel Tower and the start to the bus tour etc. There are plenty of restaurants on the main road a few streets away from the hotel. (Avenue de la Motte-Picquet) The breakfast had all the usual offerings and cost the same as if you venture nearby. The room was very clean and some nice little toiletries.
An elegant, spacious 1 bedroom loft studio with Eiffel Tower views that trump the big 5 star hotels in Paris. There is not a better place to stay. We stayed at a ritzy 5 star hotel after this and regretted every moment - we should've continued on at Maison des Chaumes. Breakfast - to die for. Every morning a large spread is meticulously set by Odile. She will offer to cater for any dietary requirement or preference - impeccable.
The best thing about this hotel was the location as it is about 5 min for the Place D'Italie station - however, given the density of the Parisian metro network, this is not a big feat. You're about 30 minutes via metro from the main hotspots like the Eiffel Tower or the Opera. Also, the staff were ok but we didn't interact very much. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel until check-in.
Perfect location, view of the Eiffel Tower from the room was amazing. The staff was exceptional when we arrived the man at reception was amazing, so friendly and so helpful. Room was perfect, beds was so comfy. Metro is right outside the hotel and you can get a day pass so handy for all the attractions and all the places you need to get to. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in Paris
Very good location for Paris sightseeing, wonderful bakery just around the corner, also a great market near by. Close to Eiffel Tower and metro station - Dupleix. Room was not big but enough for sleeping after whole day of walking. Hairdryer included as well as towels. Room was warm and the neighbourhood of the hotel felt very very safe 😊 Very nice people at the reception ! We recommend this hotel :)
As the name of the hotel suggests, the proximity to the most favourite site in Paris - the Eiffel Tower - is superb. As well, I chose the hotel because of its proximity to the UNESCO Headquarters where I needed to go every morning (and, at the same time, I did not need to use any type of public transportation). The room, as well as the bathroom, were clean. Also, the hotel staff was very polite.
The welcome was one of the best I had so far. Warm, super-friendly, multilingual and made me switch on holiday-mode. A cute and cozy hotel in a good location to explore Paris. With a bit of walking we did Louvre, Notre-Dame, Eiffel Tower and a few more by feet. It's cool, that every Astotel in the area offers complimentary drinks and snacks from 2pm till 2am everyday.
Location is in proximity of Eiffel Tower (10-15 minutes walk). The apartment is quite large for Paris standards and has a big bathroom and balcony you can sit outside. Chromecast TV with Netflix and Youtube. Small kitchenette. Price was good but I booked one day before the travel.
Excellent hotel! Perfect location in a quiet street, in 5 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower. Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable and cozy rooms. I recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in Paris!
Great hotel in the center of Paris near Eiffel tower. - Great location - Amazing view from apartments to Eiffel tower - Cozy and clean room - in the room with the bath we had hotel bath salt
if one goes to the Louvre you acquire headsets. It is pretty amazing viewing a painting of Napoleon crowning Josephine and the historical significance of this amazing piece of art is explained in the most beautiful artistic voice. Captivating... , not just this one painting the whole museum of priceless treasures. I felt honoured to view this amazing collection. The artifacts are breathtaking. It is amazing riding a double decker bus and wearing a headset. Two trips around the city and you are most familiar with the sights and their historical significance to start your journey. Plaques in doorways and on statue's leave the visitor a good over view of the past. A trip to Versailles again headsets that advise the visitors the past. The streets, the cobblestones the architecture, the open markets and cafe's, the preservation of the past intact is so very amazing to a first time visitor. Paris is exciting! Paris is busy. Paris is steeped in culture and is bigger than life itself. I stood beneath the Eiffel Tower and looked up trying to imagine the past and the men that built this magnificent structure. The residents of Paris make their city come to life. They are proud of their city. Very clean and orderly.
Skip the Louvre & the Champs-Elysees, stroll the Tuilleries and the Latin Quarter instead, & talk to people, but remember you're in THEIR country so learn some basic French (please, thank you, G'day, G'eve, etc.) - you'll find a lot of people who speak English. Use the Metro and the "river taxi" (that's what I call it, anyway). DO enjoy cafe au lait often at outdoor cafes, look at around and up at the old buildings, take your time and soak it all in. Don't waste money on 4 & 5, or even 3 - star hotels & "fancy" restaurants - see where the most French are eating and try those places. But, I'm biased and fluent in the language. One can "do" Paris in 3 days - Musee d'Orsay, Musee Marmottan (Monets!!!), Sacre Coeur, Eiffel Tower & Notre Dame, and if you must, the Arc de Triomphe, but it's not worth the hassle). Skip Versailles, go to Fountainbleau (you can get a R/T ticket at the Metro station (subway, train, bus). Hotel in the Latin Quarter.
Find all the hidden playgrounds, visit the jardin du luxembourg and budget for carousel rides. A good view of the city can be found at the top of the wheel/roue within the jardin des tuileries rather than queuing for the tour Eiffel or scycraper.
Go early!! For the Eiffel Tower we took the stairs which was fun for our children and the line up was minimal.
Louve. Go to Eiffel Tower early, they shut down access to the top when we were there because of over crowding at the top.
Paris at night is amazing, make sure you go to the Eiffel Tower at night and wait for it to sparkle for you!
