The Derwentwater walk

This pretty trail takes in the quiet majesty of Derwentwater, the ‘Queen of the Lakes’. Ten miles of well-marked paths loop around its still shoreline, leading you past age-old forests and rugged fells. For picture-postcard views, head to Friar’s Crag and look out across the lake towards the spiny ridge of Cat Bells.

Breakfast was excellent, room very clean and comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome. Jo was very helpful with her local knowledge and advice. The house and surrounding area were quiet and peaceful and it was only a short walk to the town centre, riverside walk and park, and Derwentwater was very little further away.

Breakfast always delicious. Paul was very friendly and helpful in recommending us good restaurants and walking routes. Despite the predictably awful weather in the lakes in November we had a fab time exploring Derwentwater. The B&B is close to Keswick town centre, easy to find and has lovely views of the River Greta and Skiddaw.
