I'd recommend visiting this fantastic place early in the morning. Less crowded, better light for photography, cooler than during the day, less chance of getting wet with a spell of rain. You can have breakfast after the visit at one of the foodstalls (warung) located at the exit of the site.

Borobudur temple is incredible, however the price they are charging to enter is well overpriced. We were a family of 4 and felt the right price should have been more like $50 rather then close to $150. Our thought is that they are running the risk of pricing themselves away from being a must do destination as the town its self is certainly not a destination town worth spending much time in from our mind

It's colossal and awe-inspiring, but the hordes of tourists (just like you and me) will leave you feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. It's too much of a wait for the morning sunrise visit, so time your Borobudur trip to a non-peak tourist month for a much more intimate experience. Do carry water, wear a hat, make sure you are fit enough to climb the steep stone steps (stretch, bend, your knees can get sore), and don't forget your souvenir if you avail the VIP entry pass!NilofarIndia
